Semi Senior Accountant

Salary: Up to £35,000 depending on experience

Are you an experienced Semi Senior Accountant looking to join a modern and forward-thinking accountancy practice where you'll have the opportunity to manage a varied client portfolio, develop your technical skills and work within a flexible and supportive environment?

An established accountancy practice in York is looking to recruit a Semi Senior Accountant to support continued growth and provide high-quality accountancy services to a diverse client base.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous practice experience who is looking for a role offering variety, genuine progression and the chance to build strong client relationships.

The Role

Working as part of the accounts team, you'll be responsible for supporting a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies

• Completing VAT returns

• Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance

• Reviewing bookkeeping information and supporting clients with queries

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships

• Communicating directly with clients to provide support and advice

• Working closely with senior members of the team

• Taking increasing responsibility for your own client portfolio

About You

You'll ideally have previous experience working within an accountancy practice and be looking for the next step in your career.

You'll have:

• Previous practice accountancy experience

• Experience preparing accounts for a variety of clients

• Good knowledge of VAT and general practice accounting

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• Excellent communication skills

• A proactive approach and willingness to develop

The role would suit someone who is:

• AAT qualified or working towards further qualifications

• ACA/ACCA part-qualified

• Qualified by experience (QBE)

• Hybrid working with 1 day per week working from home

• Part-time hours considered for the right candidate

• Flexible working hours, with core hours between 10am and 4pm

• Ability to start and finish flexibly between 7am and 6pm, provided contracted hours are completed
