Overview

Princeton University’s Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination (LISD), based in the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), seeks a dynamic and highly motivated Communications and Events Assistant.

Reporting to the Institute Manager, this position supports the institute's communications strategy, events, publications, and programmatic activities. The Communications and Events Assistant works closely with institute leadership and staff to promote LISD's mission and ensure the successful execution of events and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

Event Support and Coordination• Coordinate logistical aspects of LISD and co-sponsored events under priorities established by the Administrative and Events Assistant. • Arrange venues, catering, audiovisual support, registrations, and event communications. • Develop promotional materials, conference programs, brochures, and post-event publications. • Support visitor itineraries and meeting logistics. • Track event-related expenses and prepare documentation for financial processing. • Adjust work schedules to accommodate occasional evening events.

 

Communications and Digital Content• Maintain and update the LISD website to ensure timely and accurate content. • Develop and manage the institute's newsletters, listserv communications, and social media presence. • Draft and publish content highlighting institute events, publications, students, faculty, fellows, internships, alumni, and other initiatives. • Monitor website analytics and social media engagement and recommend improvements. • Maintain LISD's presence on SPIA calendars and other university communication platforms. • Create and schedule social media campaigns and promotional materials.

Social media: monitor; develop content and post on LISD’s platforms, including, but not limited to: X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

 

Student, Faculty, and Staff Travel Support• Coordinate logistical arrangements for domestic and international travel associated with the IPA and other institute programs. • Manage travel planning, lodging, transportation, meals, itineraries, and supporting documentation. • Serve as an on-site logistical resource during trips when requested. • Accompany student trips domestically or internationally, as needed.

 

Europe Initiative (ICEA) Communications Support• Maintain ICEA web content and communications in partnership with the Administrative and Events Assistant. • Develop publicity materials and promote ICEA-sponsored events. • Coordinate with faculty directors to ensure timely dissemination of program information.

 

Publications and Design• Coordinate the production and promotion of LISD publications. • Work with authors, editors, and designers to prepare publications for release. • Format publications using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. • Coordinate graphics, permissions, and library-related publication requirements. • Publish final materials through institute communication channels.

 

Program Support• Support the Administrative and Events Assistant with communications and logistics related to the IPA program and other institute initiatives. • Assist with student-facing events and program activities.

 

Other Duties• Provide general administrative and operational support as assigned by the Director, Co-Director, Researcher, or Administrative and Events Assistant.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Experience with website content management systems, social media platforms, and digital communications. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign and Illustrator) strongly preferred. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively. • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information. • Familiarity with university systems such as Drupal, PRIME, and Concur preferred. • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends. • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.

 

Preferred:

● Familiarity with outreach in academic settings.● Interest in international affairs, public policy, communications, or related fields.
