The Business Development (BD) Supervisor for our Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice Group will support pitches and request for proposals (RFPs), directory and award submissions, events and sponsorships, marketing materials, strategic BD and marketing initiatives, competitive intelligence and other BD and marketing activities, working closely across the firm’s global Marketing and BD department.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pitches and RFPs
- Lead, draft and coordinate value-driven content for RFP responses and dynamic presentations in connection with pitches and other new business opportunities
- Maintain pitch/RFP files, log in pitch tracking system and obtain outcome updates
- Streamline pitch and proposal responses by mapping and leveraging experience within the Foundation database
Directory and Award Submissions
- Draft legal directory and award submissions and assist the Communications team in the generation of matters and other information for submissions
- Facilitate streamlined matter and reference collection process
Events and Conference Sponsorships
- Identify and coordinate participation in sponsorships, conferences, memberships and other key profile-building opportunities for the practice and individual lawyers
- Handle firm-hosted BD events, including receptions, client entertainment outings, substantive presentations and webinars, collaborating closely with participating lawyers and Marketing Department colleagues on invitation list development, event materials, participant tracking, engagement, on-site management, targeted follow-up activities and overall ROI on related activity
Marketing Materials
- Routinely update PowerPoint pitch decks, fact sheets and website content
- Develop and maintain a targeted approach to delivering new content marketing to clients and prospective clients working with the Brand and Creative team
Communications
- Facilitate internal communications regarding BD activities, successes and opportunities
- Work with the Communications team to promote the practice through website, social media and public relations
Strategy Execution
- Partner with stakeholders to facilitate strategic cross-selling and cross-marketing opportunities for the team, including crafting and executing a range of go-to-market strategies around these opportunities in coordination with BD colleagues
- Support client targeting exercises, including prompting and monitoring BD activities and tracking and reporting on results
- Conduct and coordinate strategic research on potential clients, competitors and practice developments to identify business trends and opportunities and ensure that K&S is optimally positioned to grow market share
- Identify, develop and deliver timely and relevant topics around which to build broad thought leadership and direct client outreach campaign
- Onboard laterals and assist on the development of their business plans and provide ongoing BD coaching for individual partners
- Support on ad-hoc BD and firm initiatives as required
Budget
- Oversee budget tracking and provide support
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or JD a plus
- 5+ years of professional marketing and BD experience, preference from a law firm environment and strong interest or track record in investigations and regulatory enforcement
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work effectively with partners and collaboratively with other lawyers and business services colleagues throughout the firm
- Advanced project management capability with attention to detail and an ability to prioritize and execute multiple ongoing tasks under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
- Flexible, proactive, big picture, forward thinking, energetic and detail-oriented team player willing to lend support where needed and beyond the scope of their role
- Excellent communication skills (presentation, writing, verbal), with the ability to tailor messages for varied audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, incorporating feedback effectively
- High level of discretion and confidentiality due to sensitive nature of many of our matters
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), experience with customer relationship management/content systems (BD Hub, Foundation), and familiarity with artificial intelligence tools (Microsoft Copilot, Harvey)

Pay Transparency Range:
New York: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $115,000 - $145,000
DC: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $110,000 - $130,000
Chicago: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $105,000- $125,000
The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
