Job Purpose & Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and facility systems. This role ensures optimal machine performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This will be for a day shift Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm. This person will need to be comfortable working night time hours and some weekend work if needed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on injection moulding machines (i.e. Engel, Cincinnati, Shibaura)
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues
Maintain and repair auxiliary equipment, such as dryers, chillers, conveyors, and robots.
Facility Maintenance
Conduct general facility repairs to include lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components
Support utility systems such as compressed air, water, and electrical distribution
Process Support
Assist with mold changes as required
Collaborate with process technicians and production staff to resolve equipment-related issues
Documentation and Compliance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage
Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis
Job Requirements
Education & Certificates:
High school diploma or GED required
Technical certification or associate’s degree, preferred
Technical Skills & Experience:
2+ years of maintenance experience required, manufacturing or injection molding environment preferred
Competencies
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, and control systems
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
Solid basic computer skills, to include familiarity with MS Office programs and maintenance specific software
Good verbal and written communication skills
Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
Key Relationships
Incumbent will be communicating continuously with production staff, process technicians, and maintenance leadership team throughout the day.
May occasionally need to collaborate with quality team and other plant leadership.
Working Conditions
Employee may be exposed to a Considerable level of hazards in the work environment, such as chemicals, commercial products, exposure to potential toxins, moving machinery, repetitive motion, excessive noise, powered industrial vehicle fork/reach/ bucket lift/other.
May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
Employee may be required to perform a Considerable level of specific tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, extensive muscular action, frequent body movements, working positions, posture changes, visual attentiveness.
Employee will be required to stand for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, lifting, crouching, and climbing frequently.
Employee will be required to wear protective eyewear, appropriate gloves, hearing protection, respiratory protection, safety shoes, hard hate, and/or other.
Employee may experience progressive degrees of changing factors in the work process (changing work priorities, deadlines, accuracy, quotas, conflicting demands).
