We’re hiring a Purchasing Agent to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon!
Job Summary:Procure the needed goods and services for the property at the appropriate price and in a timely manner while following all corporate purchasing guidelines.
The Details:Position Type: Full-Time, Year-RoundPay: $54,000 per yearSchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)
Housing: Eligible for a Private 1-Bedroom Apartment for $352 per month and $352 housing deposit.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for procurement activities in all areas with a primary focus in the Food & Beverage requirements, which includes the processing of daily food orders and purchase requests.
- Maintain adequate records that indicate percentage of sustainable purchases to total purchases.
- Stay knowledgeable regarding the parameters of the corporate purchasing guidelines and ensure that the property is adhering to these principles.
- Maintain cost keeping records for high dollar and contracted items to ensure that pricing is accurate and to help the property make informed decisions.
- Assist Purchasing Director as a liaison between Xanterra South Rim and purveyors.
- Direct and assist in the daily operation of the warehouse as necessary.
- Support all departments with sourcing approved special order products at the most competitive cost and in a timely manner.
- Assist the Purchasing Director in providing menu ideas, pricing and new products to Food & Beverage, as they become available from suppliers.
- Participate in vendor/purveyor selection and review.
- Provide feedback to purveyors on product quality, timeliness of deliveries, rebates and credits.
- Work with warehouse manager on inventory par levels ensuring that outs are kept to a minimum.
- Participate in monthly physical inventory count, verification, and data entry. This also includes rectifying discrepancies and researching the cause of all variances.
- Respond to vendor outages and make arrangements to procure replacement supplies when needed.
- Maintain accurate records regarding food and non-food sustainability purchases and total purchases per vendor.
- Oversee activities in the purchasing department in the absence of the Purchasing Director.
- Maintain the upkeep and managing of procurement templates.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Five years experience in direct purchasing and/or procurement, two years of which must be in a food and beverage supervisory capacity.
- Knowledge of the food & beverage industry which includes knowledge of how to research projected target price, applicable customer reception of sourced products, and how to organize and conduct product presentations.
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures, how they are applicable to the ordering department, and how to analyze and adhere to a strict budget.
- Good verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with purveyors.
- Advanced skills with the Microsoft office suite, especially Excel and purchasing/inventory tracking software.
Physical Requirements include:
Constantly: Sit, handle, lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
Occasionally: Stand, walk, reach outward/ above shoulder, squat/kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 25 lbs.
