Who will succeed in this role:
We are looking for a Product Owner to join our team and help shape how AI-powered and agentic ways of working transform product delivery.
Our client is a leading European provider of postal, logistics, and parcel delivery services, with an extensive international presence and a strong focus on digital transformation, innovation, and sustainable solutions. Through its diverse portfolio of services, the organization connects businesses and consumers across multiple markets, continuously evolving to meet the demands of a rapidly changing digital landscape.
As a Product Owner, you will own the team's product backlog and translate business needs into clear, prioritized, and delivery-ready requirements. Working closely with business stakeholders, engineering colleagues, and the Principal Product Owner, you will ensure that the team focuses on delivering meaningful business value.
You will combine strong product ownership fundamentals with an openness to AI-assisted product management. From refining requirements and acceptance criteria to analyzing feedback and improving backlog prioritization, you will explore how agentic capabilities can make product management more effective.
Beyond backlog management, you will contribute to the team's effectiveness by maintaining clear priorities, facilitating collaboration, removing delivery impediments, and using performance insights to identify opportunities for improvement.
This is an opportunity for a Product Owner who enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology and is eager to evolve their practices as AI changes the way products are built and delivered.
Responsibilities:
Product ownership and backlog management
- Own and continuously refine the team's product backlog, ensuring that items are prioritized according to business value, stakeholder needs, and agreed product direction.
- Translate business demand into clear, actionable, and delivery-ready requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues to clarify requirements, resolve functional questions, and ensure that backlog items are sufficiently understood before implementation.
- Maintain a sufficiently refined backlog to support continuous delivery and minimize avoidable delays caused by unclear or incomplete requirements.
- Reprioritize backlog items based on stakeholder feedback, emerging business needs, delivered value, and changing dependencies.
- Ensure that the team understands the business context, expected outcomes, and value behind its work.
Stakeholder collaboration and value delivery
- Act as the primary product-level interface between the team and its business stakeholders.
- Clarify business needs, reconcile stakeholder feedback, and ensure that requirements reflect agreed priorities.
- Collaborate with the Principal Product Owner to maintain alignment with product direction and priorities.
- Work with engineering colleagues to understand technical constraints, dependencies, and implementation options.
- Track product outcomes and team-level value delivery, using feedback and available metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Escalate business priority conflicts and cross-team decisions to the Principal Product Owner.
AI-assisted product management
- Apply AI-assisted and agentic ways of working to backlog refinement, requirements analysis, user story preparation, and prioritization.
- Explore opportunities to use AI to improve the clarity, consistency, and readiness of product requirements.
- Use AI-supported analysis to help identify dependencies, gaps, risks, and opportunities across the backlog.
- Critically review AI-generated requirements and recommendations, ensuring that they reflect actual business needs and remain accurate, relevant, and actionable.
- Experiment with new tools and approaches to improve product management effectiveness while maintaining appropriate human judgement and accountability.
- Share feedback and improvement opportunities to support the continuous evolution of agentic product management practices.
Team effectiveness and continuous improvement
- Facilitate team ceremonies and collaboration to support effective planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain clear priorities and ensure that the team has the context and information needed to work autonomously.
- Identify and help remove impediments affecting backlog readiness, collaboration, or the team's ability to deliver.
- Maintain an end-to-end view of team performance, including product outcomes, delivery metrics, and quality indicators.
- Use performance insights to inform product prioritization, identify improvement opportunities, and support sustainable delivery.
- Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and Delivery Manager to understand performance issues and address improvement opportunities within their respective areas of responsibility.
- Contribute to team cohesion, autonomy, and continuous improvement without assuming formal people-management responsibilities.
