Communications Manager

At IQM, we build world-leading quantum computers for the well-being of humankind. We design systems to tackle computational challenges beyond the practical limits of classical machines. Our work sits at the edge of science and engineering. It's complex, demanding, and deeply collaborative. We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.

Join the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.

The work

As our Communications Manager, you’ll bring IQM’s story to life. Working closely with our Senior Communications Manager, you’ll turn our corporate narrative into consistent, high-quality media coverage, taking press releases and announcements from first draft all the way to distribution. You’ll build strong relationships with journalists across Europe and APAC, technology and science media and manage day-to-day collaboration with our PR agency.

You’ll also help our executives and spokespeople shine by finding media opportunities and preparing them for interviews, while making sure every message we share is accurate and backed by approved technical sources. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves getting things done and wants to make an impact in one of the most exciting fields in technology.

What you’ll actually do

• Drafting and editing press releases, statements, media Q&As and briefing notes

• Pitching stories and securing coverage in tier-1 and tier-2 European outlets

• Coordinating reviews and approvals with Product, Research, Legal and Investor Relations

• Briefing the PR agency and tracking its deliverables against the comms calendar

• Preparing executives and technical spokespeople for interviews and press briefings

• Monitoring media coverage and competitor news, and flagging issues early

• Keeping the comms calendar, media lists and coverage reports up to date

• Working with the digital and content teams to amplify announcements on social channels

• Reporting coverage results and share of voice monthly to the Senior Communications Manager

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years of experience in PR, corporate communications or media relations

• Experience in B2B technology, deep tech or another complex technical field

• Strong writing and editing capabilities and ability to understand complex technical subjects and explain them to the wider audience

• Experience working across more than one European market

• University degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field, or equivalent experience

• Ability to pitch confidently to senior journalists and land coverage in top-tier outlets

• Comfortable working with executives and sensitive or market-relevant messaging

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment where accuracy and attention to detail are essential

Why IQM?

• Full-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.

• High-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too—hybrid setups, flexible hours.

• Never the smartest: You won’t always be the smartest person in the room. Neither will we. Expect to learn constantly - from each other and beyond with IQM’s Learning Hub, LinkedIn Learning, and a team-based L&D budget.

• Approachable leadership: Flat hierarchy, direct access. Feel free to approach any leaders. They're friendlier than they look!

• The sweet spot: Big enough to matter. Small enough to move fast. Growing between a startup and a corporation. We’re in the phase where top performers get noticed.

• Bigger than IQM: Our people build know-how for the entire quantum ecosystem. We publish papers, run hackathons, and help shape a market that's still being defined.

The future of computing won’t build itself. You might be one of the few who do.
