The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a financial crime, risk or data analytics professional to contribute to strengthening the Group’s financial crime risk management framework through data-driven oversight and reporting. The role sits within the 2LoD Global Financial Crime Compliance PRAGMA team (Policy, Reporting, Analytics, Governance, Methodologies and Awareness), providing exposure to stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Business Units and Technology.

The role offers breadth and exposure across major financial crime risk disciplines, including AML, sanctions, fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, and customer due diligence. Beyond supporting KRI oversight, the position provides the opportunity to contribute to the quality, integrity and effectiveness of financial crime management information, working with Business Units and technology teams to support data governance, strengthen controls and implement reporting improvements.
It is ideally suited to an individual who enjoys combining financial crime knowledge with data analytics, technology-enabled change and stakeholder engagement. This collaborative role offers the opportunity to make a practical contribution to financial crime risk management, reporting and compliance culture across the Group.
Key Responsibilities for this Role:
- Support the maintenance and ongoing operation of the M&G Group framework for financial crime Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and risk tolerances.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of financial crime KRIs used to monitor risk appetite statement tolerances.
- Monitor financial crime KRIs and support the timely reporting and escalation of KRI tolerance positions.
- Respond to financial crime data-related queries raised by Business Unit 1LoD and 2LoD teams, including queries concerning data inaccuracies, issues and control gaps.
- Identify and raise data inaccuracies, issues and control gaps with relevant Business Unit 1LoD and 2LoD financial crime teams, and support their resolution.
- Work with CITO to support the maintenance of data infrastructure used to host and process Group financial crime management information and help ensure it remains fit for purpose.
- Work with CITO to support the development, testing, documentation and implementation of automated solutions that enhance financial crime processes and controls.
- Undertake investigation-related data and analytics activities, including client data scanning, search queries and fraud analytics.
- Perform data quality and integrity testing to support the accuracy of financial crime management information.
- Communicate the M&G Group financial crime KRI framework, risk tolerances and associated data quality and integrity expectations to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the identification of training needs arising from changes to financial crime KRIs or findings from data quality and integrity testing.
- Build collaborative working relationships with Group Risk and Compliance stakeholders and local 2LoD financial crime teams to support an effective risk management and compliance culture.
- Support enhancements to the GFCC MI reporting suite, including dashboard governance, change implementation, issue resolution and periodic reviews to help ensure reporting remains fit for purpose.
- Perform data validation and control activities to support the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial crime management information across reporting processes and systems.
- Undertake other tasks and activities within the scope of the role or team as required from time to time.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Good knowledge of financial crime data and risk management, including experience supporting the monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), risk appetite metrics, risk tolerances and management information (MI) across one or more areas such as AML, sanctions, fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, or customer due diligence.
- Relevant experience in data analytics, reporting or data governance within financial crime, risk or compliance, including data quality and integrity testing, investigation of data issues, trend analysis and preparation of clear management information for stakeholders.
- Experience working with technology and data teams to support the testing, documentation and implementation of automated solutions, maintain data processes, improve controls and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of monitoring and reporting.
- Effective stakeholder management, communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work across first and second lines of defence, raise and help resolve data quality issues, explain KRI and risk tolerance requirements, and contribute to a strong risk and compliance culture.
- Practical technical capability and an improvement-focused mindset, with experience using data and reporting tools to support financial crime monitoring and management information.
- Proficiency in Power BI and SQL is desirable, together with exposure to Databricks or equivalent platforms, JIRA, data modelling, ETL processes, reporting architecture, automation or business intelligence solutions.
