Job Description

Position Status: This position is contingent upon government contract award and funding.

Who we are:

  • FedTech is a group of entrepreneurially minded people on a mission to unlock the benefits of technology.
  • We believe in the value of deep tech and its positive impact on the world, aspiring to democratize access to it for entrepreneurs and professionals around the world.
  • We are venture builders who thrive at the intersection of US entrepreneurship, breakthrough technologies, and mission-driven organizations.
  • Since 2015, we have supported over 1,000 companies that have collectively raised more than $5B in funding, while also partnering with hundreds of corporate, government, and university clients.

What you'll do:

In this role, you'll lead communications, outreach, and engagement efforts that connect laboratory technologies and researchers with organizations that can help move those innovations forward. From industry events and partnering sessions to newsletters, websites, social media, and success stories, you'll build the channels and experiences that turn awareness into meaningful partnerships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute an outreach and communications strategy, including an annual communications and engagement calendar.
  • Plan and manage industry days, laboratory open houses, partnering sessions, and other outreach events from concept through execution.
  • Represent the program at Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) regional and national events and other relevant industry and research conferences.
  •  Develop and manage a consistent newsletter, including content development, production, and distribution.
  • Maintain and enhance website content, ensuring technology listings, points of contact, and information on how to partner with federal laboratories are accurate, current, and easy to find.
  • Manage social media channels, with a focus on LinkedIn, to expand awareness and engagement with laboratory technologies and opportunities.
  • Develop compelling success stories and case studies by working directly with researchers, technology transfer professionals, and external partners.
  • Prepare award submissions and recognition materials, including Federal Laboratory Consortium awards, and help showcase the accomplishments of laboratory teams.
  • Track communications and outreach performance and connect engagement metrics to meaningful outcomes, including qualified inquiries, partner engagement, and new technology transfer opportunities.
  •  Collaborate with scientists, engineers, technology transfer professionals, and program leadership to ensure communications accurately and effectively represent technical work and partnership opportunities.

What success looks like:

  • Expand qualified engagement: Build awareness and generate qualified inquiries through outreach, events, awards, website, and social media.
  • Drive meaningful engagement: Deliver timely communications and events that strengthen relationships and create opportunities.
  • Support effective execution: Maintain accurate calendars and records while ensuring timely, consistent updates across digital channels.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, outreach, marketing, event management, or a related field, with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and content development skills, with experience creating communications across multiple channels, including newsletters, websites, social media, case studies, success stories, and other external-facing materials.
  • Experience translating complex technical, scientific, or engineering concepts into clear, compelling content for business, industry, government, or external audiences.
  • Experience planning and executing events from concept through delivery, including stakeholder coordination, logistics, approvals, and communications; experience supporting Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) regional or national events is a plus.
  • Experience working effectively with scientists, engineers, researchers, government stakeholders, and external partners, ideally in a federal agency, federal laboratory, government contractor, research organization, or other regulated environment.
  • Experience with technology transfer, innovation, research commercialization, or industry partnerships is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple communications and outreach priorities while meeting deadlines and navigating government requirements related to approvals, branding, and public release.
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating relevant communications, outreach, content, or event experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required; an active or transferable security clearance is a plus.

Our Values:

  • Boldness: We have the fortitude to forge new paths and push beyond our comfort
  • Unity: We treat our clients, team members and partners as we would like to be treated - we are one united team
  • Introspection: We recognize introspection is the necessary ingredient in which self-improvement flourishes
  • Leadership: We embrace servant leadership - putting the interests of client, team partners and partners first
  • Decisiveness: We have a strong bias towards action

Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $92-110k
    • The salary range listed for this position is based on market data and internal compensation structure. The final compensation package will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and education. This range is not a guarantee of compensation, and offers may fall outside this range in exceptional cases.
  • In addition to the base salary, compensation includes performance based bonus (OTE)
  • A competitive benefits package including 401K with employer match, health/dental/vision plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield, accrued PTO, professional development funds, employer paid disability insurance, parental leave, transportation and wellness reimbursements, amongst others.
