As a Nationwide Investments intern, you’ll get a chance to experience our culture and see firsthand how our team contributes to our company’s overall strength and stability. Our internship program is designed to help undergraduates immerse themselves into the Investments field through education sessions, meaningful project work, and connections with our talented team.
Throughout your internship time at Nationwide, you’ll contribute to key business assignments that impact our mission and vision, all while developing and enhancing your understanding of investment-related concepts.
Position description/key duties:
The Nationwide Investment organizations manage more than $180 billion across insurance company general account portfolios and other accounts. We are seeking 3 interns that will support our Credit Research, Real Estate Investments, Alternative Investments teams, with the opportunity to work together with our associates and fellow interns in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Each team’s intern will have the opportunity to partake in hands-on Investments projects and efforts, gain a comprehensive understanding of each area within the Investments team, and align with a team within Investments, such as:
- Credit Research: Conducting portfolio and / or fundamental credit analysis to assess risks and opportunities.
- Real Estate Investments: Support and contribute to commercial mortgage loan (CML) underwriting, asset management and portfolio analysis activities, conduct CRE research, provide feedback for internal Real Estate web site development and assist with other projects as assigned.
- Operations: Gain exposure to the end-to-end investment lifecycle and develop an understanding of the operational processes and controls (e.g., trade confirmation & settlement, deal closing, reconciliations) required to run the investments engine for all asset classes. Develop analytical and problem-solving skill; contribute meaningfully to team initiatives and projects.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Investment Leader or Senior Investment Professional.
Education: Candidates could be pursuing, but not limited to, degrees in the following academic fields: Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Statistics, Data Analytics, Econometrics.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products, programming languages, and data analytic tools. Basic level of business perspective and analysis, customer focus, and dealing with ambiguity. Proficient level of problem solving, learning on the fly, and making the best use of system capabilities.
This internship is required to work in office.
Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. At its sole discretion, Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget. However, it is not usually available for entry level roles.
Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment.The national hourly pay range for Nationwide Internships is: $23 - $50
