Summary
 
Our client is a highly successful and established Managed Services Provider (MSP) in the Ellicott City, MD area, assisting businesses optimize their technology environments, business applications, cybersecurity, and operational systems. They are seeking a Senior Salesforce Systems Analyst to take a leading role in the administration, optimization, and continued development of Salesforce within their organization.
This is a Salesforce-focused position for an experienced professional who understands that Salesforce is more than a CRM platform—it is an important component of the organization's broader business technology ecosystem. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring and enhancing Salesforce, improving workflows and automation, maintaining data integrity, supporting users, evaluating integrations, and translating business requirements into effective technical solutions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong Salesforce foundation combined with the ability to understand business processes, troubleshoot technical issues, work with third-party technology partners, and identify opportunities to make systems more efficient.
While this position will involve some broader IT and systems responsibilities, Salesforce expertise will be the primary focus of the role.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as a senior internal resource for Salesforce administration, configuration, optimization, and ongoing platform improvement.
  • Manage Salesforce users, profiles, permissions, configurations, workflows, automation, dashboards, reports, and other platform functionality.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into practical Salesforce solutions that improve operational efficiency and user productivity.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders to understand existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and determine how Salesforce can better support organizational objectives.
  • Develop, modify, test, and maintain Salesforce automation, workflows, validation rules, reports, dashboards, and related functionality.
  • Monitor Salesforce data quality and integrity and establish processes that promote accurate, consistent, and reliable information.
  • Troubleshoot Salesforce issues and serve as an escalation point for complex user, configuration, workflow, and application-related problems.
  • Evaluate existing Salesforce functionality and recommend enhancements, new features, process improvements, or other technology solutions when appropriate.
  • Support Salesforce integrations with other business applications and work with external developers, vendors, consultants, and technology partners when troubleshooting or implementing integrations.
  • Participate in the design, testing, deployment, and documentation of Salesforce enhancements, upgrades, new functionality, and system changes.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering Salesforce configurations, workflows, processes, integrations, troubleshooting procedures, and system changes.
  • Assist with user onboarding, Salesforce training, documentation, and ongoing support to ensure employees effectively utilize the platform.
  • Monitor user access, security settings, permissions, and other controls to help maintain an appropriate Salesforce security environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership and business teams to prioritize Salesforce initiatives and determine which enhancements will provide the greatest business value.
  • Stay current on Salesforce capabilities, emerging functionality, AI developments, and other technologies that could benefit the organization.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing practical AI-enabled solutions within Salesforce and other business processes.
  • Provide support for Microsoft 365, Windows workstations, user access, connectivity, and other general technology issues when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with managed service providers, software vendors, developers, and other third-party technology partners to resolve issues and support business technology initiatives.
Qualification & Requirements
  • Required Qualifications
    • 5+ years of progressive experience in Salesforce administration, Salesforce systems analysis, CRM administration, business systems analysis, application support, or a closely related technology role.
    • Significant hands-on experience administering and configuring Salesforce in a professional business environment.
    • Demonstrated experience with Salesforce configuration, including users, permissions, workflows, automation, validation, reporting, dashboards, and data management.
    • Ability to analyze business processes and translate functional requirements into effective Salesforce solutions.
    • Strong understanding of Salesforce data structures, relationships, data integrity, and reporting capabilities.
    • Experience troubleshooting Salesforce issues and supporting end users with varying levels of technical expertise.
    • Experience working with Salesforce integrations, APIs, data exchanges, or third-party applications is highly desirable.
    • Strong technical documentation, testing, implementation, and change-management skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Critical Salesforce Qualifications
    • The following Salesforce credentials and technical capabilities will be highly important to the client's selection process:
    • Salesforce Platform Developer I certification
    • Salesforce Certified AI Associate
    • Salesforce Platform App Builder certification
    • Proficiency with HTML
    • Candidates possessing multiple Salesforce certifications and demonstrated hands-on experience applying those skills in a business environment will be especially attractive.
  • Preferred Experience
    • Experience supporting Salesforce within financial services, wealth management, financial planning, or an RIA environment.
    • Familiarity with financial planning and wealth-management applications such as eMoney, Tamarac, Gateway, or comparable platforms.
    • Experience with Salesforce integrations and third-party application ecosystems.
    • Familiarity with APIs, data mapping, data exchange, and integration concepts.
    • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, endpoint management, or related identity and device-management technologies.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
    • Experience working with MSPs, software vendors, developers, consultants, and other external technology partners.
    • Experience identifying practical applications for artificial intelligence to improve business workflows and employee productivity.
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.
    • Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated technical expertise may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Work Environment & Schedule
    • Full-time, onsite position in Columbia, Maryland.
    • Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
    • This is an onsite position and does not offer a regular remote or hybrid work schedule.

  • The ideal candidate can sit down with a business stakeholder, understand what they're trying to accomplish, determine how Salesforce can solve the problem, build or configure the appropriate solution, test it, document it, and support it after implementation.
  • This person should also be comfortable digging into integrations, working with developers and technology partners, evaluating new Salesforce capabilities, and staying ahead of emerging technologies—including AI.
