About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptive Assistant Tax Manager or Senior Tax Specialist to oversee and execute our global tax operations within the fast-paced payments sector. This role manages global direct and indirect tax compliance, US tax obligations, withholding tax systems, transfer pricing documentation, and tax accounting. Operating from Manila, you will work closely with leadership to manage risk and streamline processes, functionally reporting directly to the Global Tax Director in Singapore.
Key Role Responsibilities:
Global Direct, Indirect & US Tax Compliance
- Manage compliance
- Coordinate and review corporate income tax returns for global entities.
- Review US federal, state, and local tax returns, including forms like 1120, 5471, 8858, 1099K.
- Ensure accurate filings for VAT, GST, and digital services taxes (DST).
- Support audits: Assist in compiling information and responding to tax audits and ad-hoc queries.
Withholding Tax
- Review transactions: Evaluate cross-border payments for correct WHT application and treaty benefits.
- Manage certificates: Oversee the collection and filing of residency certificates (TRCs) and W-8 forms.
- Reconcile accounts: Monitor WHT accounts and ensure timely remittance to local tax authorities.
Transfer Pricing
- Maintain documentation: Assist with the update of the local files and the master file.
- Monitor policies: Assist with the calculation of the intercompany allocations and review new transactions to ensure arm’s-length pricing compliance.
Tax Accounting
- Calculate: Calculate global tax provisions, effective tax rates, deferred taxes, intercompany allocations and transfer pricing adjustments.
- Process: Build and maintain complex financial models, pivot tables, and advanced formulas (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Index/Match) to automate data reconciliation.
- Reconciliation: Align tax accounts with financial statements under IFRS or US GAAP.

Things we are looking for:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in corporate tax or Big 4 accounting, ideally within fintech, financial services, or payments businesses.
- US Tax Knowledge: Direct, hands-on experience handling US tax compliance and reporting is highly preferred..
- Systems: Hands-on experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource is optional.
- Advanced Excel Skills: Mastery of data manipulation, formulas, and large dataset analysis, including SmartView.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Soft skills: Clear and concise English communication skills to collaborate effectively with a remote leadership team in Singapore and global stakeholders.
