ROLE SUMMARY
The Medical Director (Secondee) will serve as a global medical role for the trispecifics (tilrekimig) Atopic Dermatitis (AD) program, reporting directly to the Global Senior Medical Director – Dermatology Pipeline Medical Lead.
This role carries strategic and executional ownership of key medical workstreams at a critical inflection point as the asset advances through Phase 2/3 development. The Medical Director will be an integral contributor to GMAT governance, evidence generation sub-committees, and cross-functional alignment.
The incumbent will demonstrate deep scientific and clinical expertise in dermatology/immunology, serve as a credible scientific partner to internal and external stakeholders, and drive the medical strategy in close collaboration with Clinical Development, CSI, and various cross-functional partners. The role requires the ability to operate with autonomy, strategic judgment, and influence across a complex global matrix, ensuring all activities are compliant, non-promotional, and aligned with Pfizer policies and procedures.
This secondment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a first-in-class multi-pathway immunology platform with high visibility to senior governance and leadership.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Medical Strategy Leadership
Lead and drive execution of the global medical strategy for trispecifics in AD, ensuring alignment with the overall asset strategy, Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP), and development milestones.
Own and evolve the scientific narrative and value proposition, ensuring consistency, scientific rigor, and alignment with North Star objectives across all stakeholders.
Identify and prioritize strategic medical initiatives to support differentiation and future positioning, including launch readiness activities.
2. Evidence Generation, ISR & Research Collaboration Leadership
Lead identification and prioritization of evidence gaps and develop integrated evidence generation strategies aligned with program priorities and the Enterprise Integrated Evidence Plan (eIEP).
Provide medical leadership and strategic direction for Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR), including review, prioritization, and governance alignment in accordance with applicable SOPs (CT-24, RC-01).
Lead strategy for Clinical Research Collaborations (CRC) and Pfizer-sponsored non-interventional studies, working with Medical Evidence Development (MED), RWE/Epi Scientists, and cross-functional study teams.
Ensure scientific rigor, quality, and compliance across all evidence generation activities in alignment with Pfizer’s Quality Management System and medical governance standards.
3. External Environment & Competitive Intelligence
Maintain a comprehensive and current understanding of the external landscape, including evolving standards of care and treatment guidelines in AD, competitive pipeline developments and emerging clinical data, and regulatory, access, and payer dynamics across key markets.
Attend key dermatology and immunology congresses (e.g., EADV, AAD, SID), interact with key investigators, and review emerging literature, focusing on mechanisms of action (MOAs) relevant to the development portfolio.
Translate external insights into actionable strategic recommendations that inform medical strategy, clinical development decisions, and cross-functional planning.
4. Insights Generation & GMAT Governance
Lead structured insights generation and synthesis across multiple sources, including advisory boards, field medical interactions, scientific congresses, and investigator feedback.
Serve as a core contributor to Global Medical Affairs Team (GMAT)and Evidence Generation (EvGen) Sub-team governance, translating insights into clear strategic actions, prioritization decisions, and trade-off recommendations.
Influence program-level decisions through data-driven, insight-driven medical recommendations presented to senior governance forums.
5. External Expert Engagement & Advisory Boards
Lead development and execution of the global Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement strategy for trispecifics in AD, including identification, prioritization, and long-term relationship development.
Lead planning and delivery of global advisory boards and expert consultations, including Business Rationale Form (BRF) development, vendor coordination, and compliance oversight.
Ensure all external engagements are conducted in a compliant, non-promotional, and scientifically balanced manner, in accordance with Pfizer policies and procedures.
6. Clinical Development Partnership
Act as a strategic medical partner to Clinical Development, contributing to Phase 2/3 program readiness and differentiation strategy, protocol and endpoint discussions, and recruitment strategy, site feasibility, and investigator engagement.
Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment on scientific messaging and launch readiness.
7. Scientific Communication & Data Dissemination
Lead evidence dissemination and education activities, including scientific publications, congress presentations, and scientific exchange in collaboration with the publications lead and R&D.
Support development and execution of internal medical training curriculum around asset data and relevant disease area content in collaboration with the Medical Content and Communication team.
8. Cross-functional Leadership & Operational Execution
Act as a medical leader within the cross-functional matrix, driving alignment across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Patient Health & Impact (PHI), Global Product Development (GPD), Commercial, and Corporate Affairs.
Lead preparation of materials and recommendations for senior leadership and governance reviews (SGT, GMT, leadership forums).
Own delivery of assigned medical workstreams, managing complexity across multiple parallel priorities in a high-demand, fast-paced global environment.
Conduct all activities in accordance with all relevant Pfizer policies, procedures, SOPs, and compliance guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications
MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent advanced scientific/medical degree.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or related functions within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
Demonstrated ability to operate and lead effectively in a global matrix organization.
Strong scientific expertise with ability to interpret, integrate, and communicate complex clinical data.
Fluency in written and spoken English required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in dermatology, immunology, or atopic dermatitis.
Experience leading medical strategy for pipeline or pre-launch assets.
Experience with evidence generation strategy, including ISR, CRC, NIS, and/or RWE.
Experience engaging senior stakeholders and contributing to governance-level decision-making.
Above-country experience (global or international) preferred.
Launch experience is a plus.
WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Ability to operate across global time zones.
Travel required (e.g., advisory boards, congresses, internal meetings, investigator site interactions).
