The Material Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating material requirements to support production, customer demand, and inventory objectives at Teledyne DGO. This role ensures the timely availability of materials while balancing inventory levels, supplier performance, and production schedules to support on‑time delivery and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage material requirements to support production schedules, demand forecasts, and customer orders
Analyze MRP signals and execute purchase requisitions, reschedules, and inventory balancing actions
Collaborate with Purchasing, Production Control, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve material constraints
Maintain accurate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete material
Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and delivery commitments; escalate issues and support corrective actions as needed
Review and adjust safety stock, reorder points, and order quantities based on demand and variability
Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and configuration updates affecting material flow
Ensure material planning data accuracy within ERP/MRP systems (e.g., IFS Cloud)
Participate in cycle counting, inventory audits, and root cause analysis for shortages or discrepancies
Generate and analyze reports related to material availability, inventory turns, shortages, and past-due items
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on supply chain efficiency, cost reduction, and delivery performance
Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and export/import requirements
Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field
2+ years of experience in material planning, production control, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (IFS Cloud experience preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with suppliers
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or regulated manufacturing environments
APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP)
Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
Understanding of BOM structures, lead times, and planning parameters
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Primarily office-based with regular interaction on the production floor
Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs may be required
