SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst reports directly to the FP&A Manager. The Financial Analyst is responsible for gathering, summarizing, and reporting complex financial data to provide analyses and recommendations in such areas as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, and statistical reports for management use. Use the cost benefit approach to analyze all aspects of interdepartmental operations to maximize growth and return. Maintain confidentiality of all privileged and proprietary information.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in determining cost of operations by establishing standard costs, collecting operational data. 
  • Assist in increasing productivity by developing automated accounting applications, coordinating information requirements.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.  
  • Assist in preparing a variety of special project reports based on requests from management.
  • Assist in preparing long-term financial forecast and analysis.
  • Assist in budget procedures and methods. 
  • Assist in analyzing operational revenues and expenditures.
  • Assist in analysis of financial statements scorecards and key performance indicators.
  • Serves as a resource to other departments in operational analysis.
  • Assist in revenue forecasts and expenditure projections as they relate to the budget.
  • Assist in financial modeling for workforce analysis.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of accounting, marketing, and operational information to evaluate operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, performance against competitors and industry standards.
  • Assist in improving communication and flow of information for quality of business decision making.
  • Assist in auditing unusual transactions and budget variances. 
  • Performs other duties as required.

S.I.G.E. TRIBAL - STATE COMPACT & ACCOUNTING & INTERNAL CONTROL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for Internal Control and Compact compliance regarding Casino Operations and ensure compliance with regulations of the Tribal Gaming Commission.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 


Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration required. 
  • Two (2) years analytical experience in financial/operational analysis and budgeting with an emphasis in hospitality operations in a casino environment or related experience preferred.
  • Above average to advanced skills in Excel; skills test assessment required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as probability, growth percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to always demonstrate outstanding guest service, including both internal and external groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work within a team, goal-oriented environment.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including working in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, presentation software (such as PowerPoint), and PC-based computerized accounting software.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in English.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Class III gaming license issued from the Washington State Gaming Commission

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those team members encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. 

  • The team members are occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Operational knowledge and experience with business related machinery such as personal computers, 10-key, postage meters, copier machines and fax machines.  
  • Software program knowledge and experience with MS Windows and MS Excel required experience with accounting software a must. Great Plains Accounting System preferred.
