ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.
- Construct, repair or remodel wooden, block, concrete, brick or metal buildings and attachments.
- Perform rough and finished carpentry work from beginning to end including framing of new construction and the maintenance and repair of existing buildings and facilities.
- Build cabinets, desks, shelving, display cases, conference tables and picture frames in carpentry shop using wood working machines such as power saws, shaper and jointer.
- Remodel offices in City buildings and facilities; build and install customized shelves, cabinets, counters and other customized projects in City buildings.
- Install hardware on wood and steel doors and wood cabinets; repair and re-key locks and lock systems.
- Install and replace glass and plexiglass in wood, steel and aluminum windows; construct complete window frames; repair or replace window frames and broken windows and glazing.
- Install and repair suspended ceilings; hang and tape drywall and install other types and forms of paneling.
- May Install shade structures and playground equipment on city park facilities.
- Install and repair roofs including tabs, roll roofing and Spanish tile.
- Construct cement forms; pour, finish, and repair concrete pads, footings, walks, planters and related items.
- Read, follow and prepare blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches supporting the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Estimate and purchase materials with approval and in compliance with City purchasing procedures.
- Perform general cleanup at job sites.
- Participate in the construction, painting and repair of park facilities as required.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by a two (2) year technical or formal apprenticeship program in finish carpentry or cabinet making; and
Two (2) years of general carpentry experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.Environmental:
Community center and field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to noise.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating equipment.
