What You'll Do
As a Medical Assistant, you'll provide clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals while helping ensure quality, compassionate patient care.
- Answer and direct calls, schedule appointments, check in patients, and maintain patient records and required forms/consents
- Obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other patient information while maintaining confidentiality
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms, equipment, and instruments; clean instruments as needed
- Maintain medical supply inventory and stock exam rooms appropriately
- Prepare, order, and administer medications under physician direction and supervision
- Assist practitioners with examinations, procedures, patient care, and pre- and post-procedure patient transfers
- Provide compassionate support and assistance to patients and families
- Schedule and reschedule appointments, manage waitlists, and proactively offer earlier openings when available
- Schedule follow-up appointments at checkout or document why an appointment could not be scheduled before the patient leaves
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other healthcare regulations and complete required annual training
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant certification may be required
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology, spelling, and office ethics
- Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Basic knowledge of clerical procedures, recordkeeping, and filing
- Ability to work independently
