Blattner is expanding our energy construction leadership into gas power generation. This is a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up, backed by a company with decades of proven success in the energy sector. This position will help us shape the processes and standards that carry this business forward to deliver end-to-end hybrid energy solutions.

WHO IS A SITE MANAGER WITH BLATTNER?

The Site Manager provides leadership and manages the operational and financial aspects of construction projects and is the primary liaison with the client’s project management team.  The Site Manager also identifies potential leads and assists estimators with development of pricing proposals.  Is the enforcer of Best Practices, process utilization, safety, and risk management; and is a cultural manager by ensuring that the company’s fundamental values and beliefs are followed and maintained. Provides training and mentorship for all exempt supervisory personnel.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Risk Management: Responsible for establishing safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project. Understands and enforces company, federal and state safety regulations on site and discusses concerns with Project Manager and Risk Management Director.  The Site Manager (SM) will meet on a weekly basis with the Trade Superintendents and Safety Coordinators to organize and plan the safety processes that will be utilized on-site.  The SM will be responsible for monitoring and auditing the utilization of best safety practices on a regular basis.  Best safety practices include the management of employee orientation, emphasis on special risks, cranes, DOT requirements, site conditions, JHA’s, holding weekly senior management meetings, meeting CATS observation goals, accident injury management, LOTO program, electrical safety program, and the corporate safety program.  The SM will assist the Project Manager in setting the TRIR goal for the project site.  The SM is responsible for monitoring, executing, and enforcing all of the activities mentioned above in order to achieve the set TRIR goal. 

  • Supervision: The SM is responsible for setting the direction for the project by collaborating with Trade Supts., General Supts. and other supervision to plan and staff (hiring, promoting, disciplining, terminating) all project employees through the proper utilization of company resources, processes and policies. In addition, the SM will communicate and collaborate with other Site Managers, Managers of Construction, and Directors in scheduling of resources (labor and equipment).   The SM provides formal quarterly (at a minimum) coaching feedback to Trade Superintendents, Site Safety Coordinators and Project/Field Construction Coordinators/Engineers as well as regular informal feedback; and provides feedback through the Field Alignment discussion packets for newly hired supervisors.  The SM prepares and identifies high potential employees for advancement by communicating performance to Project Managers, General Superintendents and Mangers of Construction.  Ensures effective coaching discussions and feedback are provided to all site supervision for developmental purposes.  The SM will establish and foster continuous teambuilding. They will ensure best practice training and mentoring efforts are utilized throughout the duration of the project for all craft labor.  Ensures all technical training has been accomplished prior to starting Work.  Utilizing the Time-Off Tracker, the SM will rotate supervisors away from the job to help find work/life balance.  The SM will be responsible for providing forums where knowledge of lessons learned, Blattner Basics, Blattner values, Best Practices, project Quality Plan, company policies, as well as processes and practices are communicated to employees.  The SM is a public supporter of company decisions and ensures the project is in compliance state and federal employment regulations.

  • Strategic Partner Relations: The SM will utilize professional demeanor and ensure site supervisors act professionally while interacting with internal and external individuals. The SM will communicate, collaborate and negotiate with owner regarding major project decisions.  The SM will work diligently to develop a personal working relationship with their owner counterpart and interact on a regular basis.  The Site Manager is responsible for the construction activities that support client requirements, project schedule, safety, quality and budget.   The SM is responsible for proactively engaging all subcontractors, vendors, and third party stakeholders in achieving project goals.

  • Operations: At project commencement, the SM will coordinate teambuilding, internal trade alignment meetings, and site planning activities.  The SM will ensure the Estimating Bid Captain is invited to the site to review the bid strategy and budget prepared by the Estimating team.  Master the project costs to always know the critical activities that affect the project in a negative or positive manner.  Routinely compare actual costs to the job estimate and inform project manager of cost over-runs or change orders.  The SM will meet weekly with project supervisors (by work discipline) to coordinate materials, equipment, supplies, and subcontractors to maximize quality and production while minimizing costs.  Coordinate and hold Plan of the Day meetings to ensure all activities are done accordingly.  Facilitate and coordinate the working relationship between all the supervisors and activities on a daily basis.  Conduct daily field visits to the project to offer insight.  The Site Manager will read, fully understand and correlate the contract documents with the scope proposal to ensure the project is built within the scope of the contract (design, specifications, budget and schedule).   The Site Manager will also read, fully understand and correlate all subcontract and material supplier documents with scope and hold subcontractor/supplier accountable for what is stated in their scope. The SM will ensure the project is safe, productive and efficient, Best Practices are utilized/communicated, and the project is technically and quality compliant.  The SM is responsible for conducting close-out meetings with the Estimating Team at the conclusion of each phase of work. 

  • Financial: The SM will review the Superintendent Monthly Report with the Project Manager.  The SM will review the Monthly Work Type Report with the appropriate Trade Superintendents along with the Trade Superintendent Weekly Report. The site manager shall ensure accurate tracking and reporting of quantities and costs.  Ensures the site management team is accurately monitoring labor hours, costs and quantities against budget for making decisions, knowing the work and supporting financial forecasting by the PM.  Regularly reviews and reports cost deviations to the Project Manager as they occur. Collaborates with the PM for timely submittal of invoices with a goal of a positive cash flow. 

  • Quality: The Site Manager shall provide general oversight that the project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance with the project specifications and the project Quality Plan, Best Practices, and the Blattner Energy Quality Systems processes and practices. The Site Manger will ensure implementation and training of Quality procedures, standards, and guidelines. The Site Manager will instill the philosophy that quality is the responsibility of each individual project employee, emphasizing personal accountability for the quality of the work delivered. The Site Manager will establish and foster an environment that is focused on quality and continuous improvement. The Site Manager shall support Quality initiatives for the betterment of their project and the organization as a whole.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Support economic conditions by hiring locally and attending public information meetings.

  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

  • Attends job/career fairs to support the hiring of new employees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •  Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).

  • Interpersonal Skills – Ability to supervise and present to a large number of employees

  • Working knowledge of equipment and their appropriate applications

  • Effective Communication Skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with owners, vendors, employees, landowners, etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, Visio)

  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning and prioritization skills

  • Accounting (math and record-keeping).

  • Involved with and understands all disciplines of current project task.

  • Must re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to.

  • May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing.

$138,661.00 - $201,059.00 Individual Compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
