Position Purpose
The Project Coordinator is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of assigned Sheet Metal construction projects while developing people, supporting customers, and driving operational excellence. Success in this role requires balancing manpower, schedules, budgets, customer expectations, and field operations while making sound decisions that support both project success and Maxair's long-term goals.
This position works closely with Project Managers, Project Executives, Field Leaders, customers, vendors, unions, and internal support teams to remove obstacles, develop employees, improve processes, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
What Success Looks Like
· Keep projects properly staffed, scheduled, and supplied so crews remain productive.
· Lead and support Sheet Metal Foremen while creating a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
· Build strong working relationships with PMs, field leaders, office staff, vendors, customers, and union representatives.
· Make timely, sound decisions that keep projects moving while protecting profitability.
· Deliver a positive customer experience while protecting Maxair's interests.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
· Plan, organize, and coordinate labor, materials, equipment, fabrication, and subcontractors.
· Develop manpower plans that align project schedules, workforce capabilities, and customer commitments.
· Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals for compliance, quality, schedule, and value.
· Coordinate internal fabrication, warehouse deliveries, and field logistics.
· Create and maintain SIP documentation and project completion lists to support project execution.
People Leadership
· Lead, coach, and support Sheet Metal Foremen by setting clear expectations and providing timely feedback.
· Participate in employee performance reviews and workforce development.
· Enforce company safety policies and promote a culture of accountability.
Customer & Business Leadership
· Build trust with customers through proactive communication and timely issue resolution.
· Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Project Executives, and support departments.
· Manage labor, purchase orders, receipts, fleet compliance, and field needs.
· Support corporate goals, mission, vision, and relationships with Local Union 85.
Qualifications
· 10+ years commercial HVAC installation experience.
· Local Union 85 Sheet Metal Foreman.
· Knowledge of HVAC systems, codes, and construction methods.
· Ability to read plans and specifications.
· Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
· OSHA 30 Certification and valid driver's license.
· Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and job cost software.
