Primary Responsibilities
The Cut and Wrap Supervisor oversees personnel and processes for sizing, pricing, wrapping, and shipping products, ensuring product integrity, freshness, and order accuracy to meet business KPIs. This role plans workforce schedules to meet daily demands while maintaining security and cleanliness in the Cut and Wrap areas. Responsibilities also include ensuring employee training and compliance with certifications, wage/hour laws, union rules, and food safety and OSHA regulations. Additionally, the position requires strong interpersonal skills to motivate, coach, and take corrective action with employees to meet productivity requirements. Essential Functions
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the process associated with the sizing, wrapping pricing and shipping of product to ensure product integrity, freshness, and order filling accuracy to achieve KPI’s and budget throughput.
- Plan, schedule and manage workforce to meet daily operational demands including training, verifying certifications and qualifications, and monitoring individual employee productivity levels.
- Apply interpersonal and communication skills to motivate the workforce, relay growth opportunities and implement corrective measures if necessary to ensure productivity levels are met; communicate with procurement regarding product supplies or availability of product and materials.
- Provide reports on objectives, throughputs and KPI’s according to company protocols and procedures.
- Protect the company’s physical assets by verifying operations of various systems or departments including ensuring visitor control is monitored using badges and chaperones and ensure maintenance of Cut and Wrap room cleanliness.
- Monitor product integrity by verifying product temperature, refrigeration operation and ensuring continuity of cold chain supply; inspecting product for damage and ensures rodent and pest control in the cut and wrap area.
- Protect the employees’ by enforcing proper Personal Protective Equipment use, updating training and certifications, monitoring wage/hour law compliance, assuring compliance with OSHA and union rules and regulations, and monitoring compliance with, local state and federal food handling regulations.
- Provide performance review input, write up and delivery along with monitoring departmental goals to determine level of engagement.
- Resolve arising personnel and client issues by applying managerial directed solutions and track all training initiatives.
- Maintain a clean work environment may include picking up trash or cleaning spills.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in English and basic math skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to lead, manage, motivate and coach hourly associates to follow procedures.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Associate’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in production (Refrigerated Grocery) required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The work environment is indoors, and the employee is exposed to a cold climate when in the cut and wrapped room (38-54 degrees). The floors are concrete with anti-fatigue mats positioned at machines and worktables in the cut and wrap room. Office floors may be carpeted or tiled.
- The work schedule is 5 days a week, 8-10 hours a day. Start times vary. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs. The employee may be required to work overtime on holidays or at weekends.
- Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, to move product and equipment. This job also requires frequent standing and walking. *
- Know, apply and enforce proper safety and food handling protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices. Know and apply protocols and procedures for using cutting and sealing tools and operating machines. Know and apply product and client specifications for proper sizing and packaging of products. Perform basic mathematic functions to determine size differences and comparing produce with specifications; perform intermediate to advanced mathematics to create and operate within a budget. Know and follow DPI grooming, hygiene and dress code.
- * DC 45 the PDL is Medium-heavy. 75 pounds of pull force may be required when operating handheld slicers to cut certain products.
