Senior Director, Market Access

This is what you will do:

 

The Senior Director Market Access is a senior strategic leader within Alexion Germany and reports directly to the Market Access Lead Germany. The role supports the Market Access Lead Germany in shaping and delivering the national market access, pricing, reimbursement, health policy, and HTA agenda across the portfolio and pipeline.

You will provide strategic direction for AMNOG procedures, reimbursement and pricing strategy, evidence analyses, and launch execution. As a senior market access expert, you will lead complex, high-impact access decisions, represent Market Access in senior cross-functional forums, and closely partner with the Director Regional Market Access and other functions.

The role combines strategic portfolio ownership with leadership of the Market Access Office Team. You will ensure effective prioritization, governance, capability development, and delivery across pre-launch, launch, lifecycle management, and indication-expansion activities.

 

 

You will be responsible for:

 

• Strategic Market Access Leadership: Support the Market Access Lead Germany in defining and implementing national market access and pricing strategies for the German portfolio and pipeline. Translate portfolio priorities, market developments, health-policy changes, and access opportunities into clear strategic recommendations and action plans.
• AMNOG and Reimbursement Strategy: Provide strategic leadership for AMNOG and HTA activities, including G-BA consultations, comparator and evidence strategies, dossier development, written statements, oral hearings, and post-assessment actions. Ensure differentiated value communication and robust preparation for critical decisions.
• Pricing and Negotiations: Lead the development and execution of reimbursement price-negotiation strategies with the GKV-Spitzenverband. Drive scenario planning, negotiation mandates, executive alignment, and negotiation teams to achieve sustainable reimbursement and pricing outcomes.
• Launch and Lifecycle Excellence: Govern market access readiness for priority launches, indication expansions, reassessments, and lifecycle initiatives. Ensure evidence needs, access risks, reimbursement scenarios, and pricing assumptions are identified early and reflected in business planning.
• Cross-Functional and Executive Influence: Represent Market Access in leadership forums, portfolio reviews, launch governance, and business-planning processes. Lead alignment across Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory, HEOR, Legal, Government Affairs, Finance, and Global Market Access to ensure German access requirements inform key business decisions.
• People Leadership and Governance: Lead, coach, and develop the Market Access Office Team. Establish clear priorities, effective governance, and quality standards, while ensuring appropriate resource allocation, vendor oversight, budget management, and compliance.
• External Stakeholder Engagement and Policy Insight: Build and maintain a strong network of relevant payer stakeholders, HTA experts, healthcare decision-makers, external advisors, industry organizations, and health-policy stakeholders. Monitor the German healthcare, reimbursement, pricing, and policy environment, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and represent Alexion externally where appropriate.
• Digital Innovation: Drive the appropriate use of AI, advanced analytics, and digital solutions to improve evidence generation, strategic planning, competitive intelligence, and operational effectiveness in line with relevant governance and compliance requirements.

 

You will need to have:

 

• Education: Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Epidemiology, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Market Access, Pricing and Reimbursement, HTA, or a related function, including substantial responsibility for the German market.
• AMNOG and Pricing Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience leading successful AMNOG strategies, G-BA processes, dossier development, benefit assessments, and reimbursement price negotiations with the GKV-SV.
• Leadership: Minimum of 7 years of people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, capability development, and leading high-performing teams.
• Health Policy and Stakeholder Management: Strong understanding of the German healthcare system, reimbursement environment, AMNOG legislation, health-policy landscape, and relevant stakeholder networks. Demonstrated ability to build trusted, strategic relationships with external decision-makers and experts.
• Strategic Influence: Demonstrated ability to shape strategy, influence senior stakeholders, lead complex cross-functional decisions, and manage high-stakes access, pricing, reimbursement, and policy issues within a matrix organization.
• Launch and Portfolio Leadership: Strong track record supporting pre-launch, launch, lifecycle management, and indication-expansion activities from a strategic market access perspective.
• Digital Capability: Experience applying AI, advanced analytics, automation, or digital solutions to create business value within a regulated environment.
• Skills: Exceptional strategic thinking, business acumen, negotiation, communication, stakeholder-management, and decision-making skills.
• Personal Attributes: Ability to manage multiple high-priority, interdependent initiatives while maintaining focus on quality, compliance, timing, budget and organizational alignment. High degree of integrity, resilience, accountability, and commitment to ethical decision-making.
• Languages: Fluency in German and English.
