Position Summary:
The FP&A Finance Director serves as a key member of the Japan Innovative Medicine Leadership Team and acts as a trusted strategic advisor to commercial and functional leaders. The role leads strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting, business performance management, investment prioritization, governance, compliance, and finance talent development.
Key responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Lead and deliver on the financial planning of the business plan, updates, latest thinking and scenario planning with financial analysis, insights and reporting on entire P&L and Balance Sheet. This includes the periodic financial performance reviews & BVA providing an overview of Japan IM financials to commercial leadership team as well as to APAC regional office, including key drivers of variance and insights into future impacts.
- Drive forecast accuracy and continuous improvement for planning, reporting and closing processes through simplification & automation.
- Lead and achieve critical SigniFi milestones with successful adoption & stabilization of new system to drive greater business insights and a predictive analysis.
Business partnering and decision support:
- Support the President and CFO in key strategic business decisions and strong business partnership with MC members, functional leads and APAC regional counterparts by looking for value-creating growth opportunities and providing constructive feedback to support profitable growth.
- Actively contribute to commercial decision-making process especially target setting, resource allocation/prioritization and management of financial risks and drive cross functional collaboration with flawless execution.
- Provide financial leadership to Japan Establish Brands unit, and HQ functions such as Medical Affairs, Integrated Market Access Team, Government Policy team to not only drive optimized efficiency, but also prioritize Japan IM policy shaping effort.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with the J&J worldwide procedures, transparency and business conduct procedures and drive accountability throughout the organization.
- Support local audits and ensure compliance with local regulations.
People management and Talent Development:
- Attract, develop and retain top talent while creating the finance organization of the future and ensure collaboration as one finance team including GS, Tax and Treasury and be the single point of contact for Japan IM Finance.
- Demonstrate ability to articulate and drive a team towards a strategic vision and be an inspirational leader to ensure Credo Values are demonstrated in the day-to-day interactions of the Japan IM Finance team.
- Ability to provide mentorship to be an effective coach and have challenging employee conversations when necessary.
- Coach key talents in Japan cross sector finance and committed to build a strong succession pipeline for the future.
- Demonstrated ability to be decisive and action-oriented regarding decision affecting the team.
Qualifications
- MBA or relevant Finance degree.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience within the Finance function or with relevant experience in finance, strategy roles or corporate finance.
- Global or multi-national business experience strongly preferred.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor as well as experience resolving complex business problems with well-structured analytics.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic, rapidly changing business environment.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives across a breadth of stakeholders.
