The Opportunity:
Join CACI as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Summer 2027! In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with electronic product assembly and modern manufacturing processes while building real-world engineering skills. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced mentors in a supportive learning environment. The internship begins in May, runs for 12 weeks, and is fully on-site.
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will:
- Work directly with manufacturing engineers on real production improvements from day one
- Learn diverse technologies such as surface‑mount assembly, automated testing systems, and quality control equipment
- Rotate through different manufacturing functions to understand how products move from concept to assembly
- Participate in cross-functional projects with engineering, production, and quality teams
- Build foundational knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Have opportunities to grow professionally through training and potential certification pathways
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the design, improvement, and optimization of manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies
- Creating and updating work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures
- Helping troubleshoot production issues and collecting data for root‑cause analysis and process improvements
- Participating in evaluating manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling while learning setup and operation procedures
- Collaborating with engineering, quality, and production teams to identify opportunities to enhance product quality and efficiency
Qualifications:
Required:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Coursework or project experience in manufacturing processes, electronics, or production systems
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and comfort reading technical drawings, schematics, or workflow diagrams
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a commitment to high‑quality work
- Clear communication skills and enthusiasm for working in team‑oriented environments
Desired:
- Prior internship or co‑op experience in manufacturing, electronics assembly, or related fields
- Familiarity with CAD or manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, simulation software)
- Coursework or exposure to lean manufacturing concepts, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, or quality methodologies
- Knowledge of PCB assembly, soldering techniques, or IPC standards through labs or personal projects
- Participation in engineering competitions, design teams, or technical student organizations demonstrating hands‑on problem solving

Pay Range:
There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
