As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern in Houston, TX, you will support hands-on projects focused on improving productivity and efficiency across our assembly and production operations. You will work alongside the Manufacturing Engineering team on assembly line optimization, quality improvement, and material flow initiatives, using time studies, process analysis, and layout improvements to identify opportunities and help implement solutions. This internship provides exposure to real-world manufacturing challenges while allowing you to apply modern technical tools, Lean Manufacturing principles, and engineering concepts to projects that can reduce assembly time, improve worker efficiency, and contribute to long-term operational improvements.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Support assembly line optimization projects focused on reducing assembly time per unit and improving overall productivity.

  • Conduct time studies and process analysis to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Assist with material flow studies and layout improvements to improve material handling and worker efficiency.

  • Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving manufacturing processes.

  • Help execute projects and improvement activities that support the Manufacturing Engineering team’s operational priorities.

  • Analyze manufacturing data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for process improvements

  • Apply modern technical tools such as Excel macros, Power BI, and simulation software to support data analysis and process optimization.

  • Bring a fresh perspective and knowledge of current manufacturing techniques and Lean methodologies to help identify new opportunities for efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Exposure to process optimization, time studies, material flow analysis, or manufacturing simulation.

  • Experience with Excel macros, Power BI, simulation software, or other data analysis tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and production teams.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This role combines office-based administrative duties with physical activity in field or production environments.

  • In the office setting, tasks may require extended computer use, sitting, and attending meetings.

  • Field or floor work may involve walking across various terrains or shop floors, standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.

  • Must be able to shift focus between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks as needed.

Pay Range:

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
