Job Summary:
Lead and integrate a global operations capability supporting the lifecycle of healthcare products and procedure kits, from product and component setup through controlled changes, commercial enablement, inventory management and discontinuation. The role connects product information, technical documentation, supply chain execution and business analytics to improve product availability, data quality, turnaround time and financial outcomes.
The Senior Manager will lead through managers and team leaders, establish a common operating model across the combined teams, and partner with global Product Management, Supply Chain, Commercial, Quality and Regulatory, and Technology leaders. The mandate includes building specialist talent, delivering reliable operations, and converting analytics, automation and AI opportunities into measurable improvements.
Business scope
· Kitting and lifecycle operations: new and revised kit setup, bill of materials maintenance, component changes, kit activation and closure, discontinued business, inventory disposition and lifecycle exceptions.
· Product information and technical support: product master data, technical data sheets, labeling and instructions for use support, packaging information, translations, product cross references and controlled documentation.
· Commercial and supply chain enablement: quotations and pricing support, vendor and sourcing administration, product availability and backorder insights, tender information and coordination across product divisions.
· Analytics and transformation: business intelligence, product and component analysis, workflow automation, project governance, process standardization and capability expansion.
Responsibilities:
Product and lifecycle accountabilities
Kitting and lifecycle operations
· Own service delivery for kit and component setup, bill of materials changes, revisions, activation and closure. Establish checks that keep approved product, quotation, packaging and system information consistent across handoffs.
· Coordinate new, revised and discontinued business with Product Management, planning, manufacturing, purchasing and customer-facing teams. Manage dependencies, exceptions and escalation to protect continuity of supply.
· Lead the operational response to excess, obsolete and expiring inventory, component shortages, revision runout and customer cancellations. Use analysis to recommend transfers, returns, purchase order actions or disposition for approval by the accountable business owner.
Product data and documentation
· Establish ownership and quality controls for product attributes, descriptions, packaging hierarchies, images, component data and cross references. Resolve data defects at source and maintain consistency across product information and ERP systems.
· Oversee technical data sheet creation and updates, labeling and artwork coordination, instructions for use documentation, translation workflows and document publication. Maintain version control, traceability and evidence of required reviews.
· Strengthen controls for product changes, component discontinuations and related document updates so that approved changes reach the affected systems, users and downstream processes.
Technical and product development support
· Lead the assigned support for supplier information, product specifications, sample review coordination, packaging study documentation and project milestones. Ensure requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies and outstanding decisions are clearly documented.
· Partner with Product Management, Quality and Regulatory specialists on technical reviews and change decisions. Exercise approval authority only within formally assigned responsibilities and approved procedures.
Commercial and supplier enablement
· Oversee quotation and pricing administration, component cost and margin analysis, product replacement information, tender responses and product documentation requests. Ensure business recommendations use validated information and reach the authorized decision maker.
· Direct assigned vendor setup, vendor data maintenance, purchasing support and pricing or invoice exception workflows. Improve coordination with Procurement, Finance and global commercial teams.
· Improve availability and backorder support by connecting inventory, production schedules, component constraints and product alternatives. Ensure customer-facing responses reflect approved product information and reliable supply assumptions.
Transformation and leadership accountabilities
Business analytics and decision support
· Build a prioritized analytics portfolio covering inventory exposure, expiry and obsolescence, component shortages, kit revisions, product availability, quotation economics, margin drivers and time to market.
· Translate business questions into data requirements, agreed definitions and actionable dashboards. Challenge data quality, assumptions and analytical conclusions, and ensure insights lead to documented decisions and follow-up actions.
Automation and AI
· Sponsor process simplification and automation using suitable tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, RPA and system integrations. Define requirements, controls, testing, adoption and support arrangements with Technology partners.
· Develop AI use cases for extracting and validating product information, comparing document versions, assisting product cross referencing, summarizing exceptions and supporting stakeholder queries. Define evaluation criteria and human review for technical, quality and regulatory content.
· Own the business case and benefits realization for each initiative. Establish a baseline, measure capacity released and improvements in quality or cycle time, and validate financial benefits with Finance while accounting for delivery and ongoing support costs.
People and capability leadership
· Lead managers, team leaders, analysts and domain specialists across the combined portfolio. Define accountabilities, performance expectations, succession coverage and decision rights at each level.
· Build specialist career paths in product lifecycle operations, product data, technical documentation, analytics and automation. Recruit and develop talent capable of taking on more complex global responsibilities.
· Create a common culture of ownership, problem solving and continuous learning. Coach leaders through change, resolve competing priorities and maintain employee engagement as scope and ways of working evolve.
Global partnership and operational governance
· Establish one service catalogue, demand and capacity process, performance scorecard and escalation framework. Lead business reviews with global stakeholders and align resources to business value, risk and service commitments.
· Manage delivery quality, turnaround time, backlog, productivity, controls, budget and continuity within delegated authority. Maintain current procedures, training records, access controls and reliable backup coverage.
· Shape a phased capability roadmap and lead new scope discovery, transition planning, knowledge transfer and stabilization. Define acceptance criteria, service ownership and controls before assuming additional work.
Work Experience & Required Skills:
· Typically 15 or more years of progressive experience across product operations, product lifecycle management, supply chain, technical business operations or global capability environments, with substantial responsibility for complex delivery portfolios.
· Demonstrated experience leading managers or team leaders across multiple specialist teams, including performance management, succession development, organizational change and global stakeholder engagement.
· Strong understanding of product and component data, bills of materials, lifecycle changes and cross-functional dependencies. Relevant experience may come from medical devices, healthcare products or other complex manufactured-product businesses.
· Proven delivery of analytics and automation initiatives with measurable business outcomes. Ability to assess analytical logic, data quality, technology options and benefits rather than relying solely on project status reporting.
· Commercial and operational acumen sufficient to evaluate inventory exposure, cost and margin implications, service trade-offs and the business case for capability expansion.
· Ability to work with senior international stakeholders, influence decisions without direct authority, communicate complex issues clearly and lead teams through ambiguity.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, supply chain, operations, business or a relevant discipline. An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred. Lean Six Sigma, project management, supply chain or product lifecycle qualifications are useful where supported by delivery experience.
- Preferred exposure includes regulated product documentation, kitting or configurable products, product information management and ERP systems, Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Familiarity with SQL, data modeling, RPA or AI implementation strengthens the profile.
- Relevant environments in the current scope include SAP, QAD, AS400, PIM, Medpack, NetQuote, Workfront and Smartsheet; expertise in every platform is not required.
