Description
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This position assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, account reconciliations, and general accounting activities while maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices.
- Verify invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Prepare and process customer invoices and apply incoming payments.
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and assist with collections activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and files.
- Perform data entry into accounting and ERP systems.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding payments and account balances.
- Assist with audits by gathering requested documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or clerical experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as Prophet 21 (P21) or similar platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
- Occasional lifting of files or office supplies up to 20 pounds.
