About the Role
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for leading, establishing, and scaling the organization's entities and programs. The role demands an entrepreneurial, agile, and hands-on leader who can embrace a startup culture while guiding a dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the CEO will oversee organizational strategy, financial sustainability, team leadership, stakeholder engagement, public relations, and fundraising across both organizational entities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy Development & Implementation
- Strategic Direction: Review and reorient the operational strategy in alignment with market-driven landscape analysis to achieve mission goals.
- Program Growth: Expand programs in teacher education, school transformation, and skilling to maximize scaled impact.
2. Fundraising & Ecosystem Leadership
- Thought Leadership: Raise the organization's profile nationally and internationally within the education and skilling sectors.
- Donor & Partner Relations: Cultivate strong relationships with major donors, philanthropic networks, government bodies, private sector partners, and ecosystem leaders.
- Revenue Generation: Lead fundraising strategies and initiatives in collaboration with the functional fundraising team.
3. Internal Leadership & Operational Management
- People & Culture: Attract, mentor, and retain a diverse, high-performing team; promote continuous professional development and high morale. Program
- Delivery & Quality: Oversee program design, delivery, and marketing while strengthening Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure full regulatory compliance, robust internal governance policies, and proactive operational risk management (financial, legal, and socio-political).
4. Financial Management & Reporting
- Financial Stewardship: Maintain sound financial practices, oversee budget preparation, and ensure long-term financial health.
- Board & Stakeholder Reporting: Collaborate with the Board of Trustees on organizational plans, joint legal executions, and regular progress updates for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Competencies & Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree (or equivalent) in Education, Management, Public Policy, or related fields.
- Experience: 10+ years of overall experience, including 5–7 years in senior leadership/management roles with operational excellence.
- Sector Scale: Proven track record of scaling operations within the social sector, preferably in education.
- Government Engagement: Demonstrated experience working with State and Central Government systems.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.
- Financial Acumen: Strong proficiency in budget management, financial analysis, and strategic resource allocation.
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency or fluency in Hindi is essential.
- Fundraising: Successful track record of proactive revenue generation and stakeholder management.
- Leadership & Ethos: High degree of humility, self-reflection, and agility, with an unwavering commitment to equity, inclusion, and child-centric values.
- Experience with tech-enabled education products or platforms.
- Experience in non-profit governance
