Texas A&M’s Chemistry department is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support and advance ongoing research efforts within the department. Working under co-supervision, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will serve as a scholar who actively collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to contribute to scientific discovery and innovation while fostering a dynamic and collaborative academic environment. The individual will conduct independent and collaborative research, contribute to the advancement of science and engineering, and support the department’s research mission through scholarly activities and dissemination of findings. In addition, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, supporting their academic and professional development and helping cultivate the next generation of researchers and scholars.

Opportunities to Contribute

• Collaborate closely with Principal Investigators and research team members to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, manage research documentation and data, and communicate findings to ensure project objectives and timelines are achieved.

• Conduct independent research involving the synthesis of redox-active organic small molecules and macromolecules, utilizing advanced organic chemistry, air-free techniques, and analytical methods, including electrochemical analysis, spectroscopy, and chromatography, to evaluate and characterize material performance.

• Develop, refine, and troubleshoot synthesis, characterization, and materials preparation procedures to ensure reproducibility and consistency, analyze experimental results, and recommend process improvements to advance research objectives.

• Lead, mentor, and train junior researchers and laboratory staff while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and best practices.

Qualifications

• Appropriate PhD in a related field.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

• Standard organic chemistry synthesis, including air free techniques. 

• Chemical characterization of small molecules. 

• Working knowledge of electrochemical characterization. 

• Excellent verbal and written skills.

• Presentation skills.

• Analytical skills.

• Attention to detail.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Special Note: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
