Department Overview
To provide high quality technical and operational support for customer infrastructure and subscriber technologies / systems supplied by Motorola Solutions, and to provide technical excellence and leadership to other members of the project & operations engineering and Support Services group ensuring total customer satisfaction and compliance to contractual key performance indicators.Our Services team is part of the Motorola Solutions business covering the Australia and New Zealand region. We deliver customer focused world-class, leading edge, end-to-end solutions fit for purpose within each customer’s unique environment that include various voice (including radio) communications, data and video technologies with our clients predominantly in the public safety government sector and the energy & natural resources industry
Job Description
Primarily responsibility for the overall technical operation and maintenance of systems and subsystems of the P25 system for Victorian Metropolitan Mobile Radio (MMR) and Regional Mobile Radio (RMR).
Provide Radio Frequency (RF) technical subject matter expertise, engineering and upgrade support for main systems and sub-systems used on the applicable radio network, microwave links and connectivity to associated telecommunication service provider links.
Act as a technical escalation point for Network Operations Centre (NOC) staff or Field Engineers when necessary
Create and implement Change & Problem management, knowledge management and test procedures for system routine maintenance
Develop and audit as built documentation and update as required to ensure accuracy
Participate in standby roster, 24x7 on call operation
Support core system, consoles and network devices (firewalls, routers, switches, microwave, servers both physical and virtual) remotely and onsite
Perform maintenance updates and upgrade system components, network devices (remote/onsite) and assist with network designs
Produce and/or update “as-built” documentation for supported systems, as required
Provide short term and long term in depth technical analysis and investigation of problems specialising in RF coverage prediction and RF measurement
Represent the operational engineering support to Management and /or vendors (or other support groups as applicable) in the resolution of equipment/network performance problems
Conducts network testing, integration and certification specialising in RF performance or base station sites or microwave/transmission links
Familiarity with Motorola Voyager coverage survey tools or other industry standard product
Familiarity of standardized methodologies for modeling, simulating, and verifying the performance of wireless and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks such as TSB-88.
Basic Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering
Experience and Skills
Extensive telecommunications experience specialising in Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and microwave transmission propagation
Digital LMR system experience such as Motorola P25
Using propagation prediction tools and real world verification
Test equipment to perform spectrum measurements and analysis to identify interference
Experiencing in multi network roaming and mobility thresholds, including wifi roaming
