Business Development Specialist

As a Business Development Specialist, you will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with emerging biotech companies, and increasing awareness of Lonza's industry-leading capabilities. Your work will directly support the growth of our Integrated Biologics, Advanced Synthesis, and Specialized Modalities businesses while contributing to the development of life-changing therapies for patients around the world.
This is an office‑first role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and team alignment, enabling us to deliver our best work. You will work primarily in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for 20% of your time (one day per week).

What you will do:
- Conduct in-depth research on emerging biotech companies, target accounts, and market trends across China's key biotech hubs.
- Identify, engage, and build relationships with prospective customers and industry consultants through targeted outreach and networking activities.
- Qualify prospects and convert them into high-quality leads for Business Development Managers.
- Follow up on marketing-generated leads and nurture opportunities to support new business growth.
- Collaborate with Market Intelligence, Technical Sales, Commercial Development, and Licensing teams to ensure full alignment and effective communication of Lonza's technologies and value propositions.
- Support conference and trade show planning and execution, including target account selection, meeting coordination, and on-site engagement.
- Drive lead generation and increase awareness of Lonza's biologics, advanced synthesis, and specialized modalities capabilities through conferences, market intelligence, industry databases, and digital channels.
What we are looking for:
- Understanding of drug development, biologics, or related pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience in technical sales, business development, research and development, or customer-facing scientific roles.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with confidence presenting complex concepts clearly.
- Ability to analyze market trends and identify new business opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
