- Leadership and Team Development: Lead and develop a high-performing organization of technical leaders, cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, database professionals, network engineers, architects, and platform specialists. Establish clear accountability, career paths, technical standards, operating procedures, and succession plans.
- Azure Cloud Platform: Own the design, operation, and continuous improvement of the Azure environment. Establish standards for landing zones, subscriptions, management groups, resource organization, naming, tagging, policies, access controls, compute, storage, networking, backup, monitoring, and resiliency.
- Azure Networking and Platform Services: Define standards for Azure Virtual Networks, private endpoints, Private Link, VPN, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, Web Application Firewall, Application Gateway, Load Balancer, Front Door, DNS, and related services. Ensure cloud platforms are secure, scalable, highly available, recoverable, and operationally supportable.
- DevOps and Platform Engineering: Lead the evolution of DevOps and platform engineering capabilities across technology teams. Establish source-control, CI/CD, artifact-management, release-automation, environment-promotion, platform-API, and self-service standards that improve developer experience while maintaining appropriate governance and controls.
- Infrastructure as Code and Terraform: Make Infrastructure as Code the standard for provisioning and managing cloud and infrastructure services. Lead the adoption and governance of Terraform, including reusable modules, remote state, versioning, testing, code review, secrets management, drift detection, policy enforcement, and automated change promotion.
- Database and Data Platform Engineering: Own the operational strategy and engineering standards for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and related data platforms. Establish standards for architecture, performance, capacity, high availability, backup, recovery, patching, upgrades, monitoring, security, and lifecycle management. Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to support reliable data services.
- Network and Connectivity Engineering: Own the strategy and architecture for enterprise network services across offices, data centers, cloud environments, and remote users. Lead wired and wireless networks, firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN, WAN connectivity, DNS, IP address management, load balancers, F5, and Azure network services.
- AI-Ready Infrastructure and Emerging Technology: Define the infrastructure strategy required to support enterprise AI adoption. Establish secure and scalable patterns for AI workloads across Azure, Snowflake, and other approved platforms, including compute, storage, networking, data access, APIs, GPU-enabled workloads, monitoring, capacity, security, and cost management. Evaluate emerging technologies and move practical capabilities from experimentation into production-ready services.
- Security by Design: Embed security requirements into cloud, network, database, DevOps, AI, and infrastructure engineering practices. Partner with Cybersecurity and Identity and Access Management on Zero Trust, privileged access, vulnerability management, network segmentation, secrets management, identity-based controls, data protection, and secure third-party connectivity.
- Reliability, Operations and Resilience: Establish an operational model for cloud and infrastructure platforms that includes observability, capacity planning, incident and problem management, change governance, disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, recovery testing, and service-level objectives. Partner with Service Resilience to improve end-to-end service health and reliability.
- Automation and Continuous Improvement: Use PowerShell, Python, APIs, Terraform, Bicep, CI/CD, policy-as-code, and workflow automation to reduce manual work, configuration inconsistency, operational risk, and infrastructure-related tickets. Automate platform onboarding, environment management, compliance evidence, cost controls, and AI infrastructure patterns where practical.
- Financial and Vendor Management: Own infrastructure financial planning, forecasting, FinOps, consumption management, and cost optimization across Azure, Snowflake, AI workloads, networking, licensing, and vendors. Manage strategic relationships, contracts, renewals, service performance, and commercial negotiations.
- Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with Service Resilience, Identity and Access Management, Cybersecurity, Applications, Data, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Procurement, and business leaders to translate requirements into secure, scalable, resilient, automated, and adopted platform services.
