Description
Markon is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support an Intelligence Community client in Chantilly, Virginia. This position will develop, engineer, and deploy technical solutions within a dedicated mission network while providing technical leadership across functional areas to deliver secure, mission-focused capabilities. The Network Engineer will work alongside network and systems engineers to design and sustain complex network architectures addressing collaboration, connectivity, and data-protection challenges.
NOTE: This position requires infrequent CONUS travel to various sites, as directed by the client.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Data Center, LAN, WAN, and Client Access network architectures supporting mission requirements.
- Engineer, build, and maintain Data Center, LAN, WAN, and Client Access networks and systems.
- Integrate, test, validate, and deploy network solutions within mission environments.
- Perform full lifecycle management of network systems, including design, build, deployment, maintenance, and sustainment.
- Monitor network environments and troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues.
- Provide technical validation of proposed network designs and ensure solutions incorporate program and engineering best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership across network engineering and related functional areas.
- Implement appropriate IT and cybersecurity best practices throughout network design and deployment.
- Support highly available network architectures and associated implementation and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with network engineers, systems engineers, project management, and other technical stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor and share technical knowledge with other engineers while maintaining current technical skills and tradecraft.
- Perform additional technical duties as directed by Project Management.
Qualifications
Required:
- An active TS/SCI with a FSP (preferrably from this client) is required to be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree related to the technical discipline and at least 11 years of relevant experience; OR
- Associate’s degree and at least 13 years of relevant experience; OR
- No degree and at least 15 years of relevant experience.
- Recent hands-on experience, within the last 3 years, with Cisco Data Center, WAN, LAN, and Client Access technologies, including technologies such as MACsec, HSRP, VRF, VPC, ACLs, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) networks.
- Recent hands-on experience with Cisco IOS-XE and NX-OS, customer-specific transport networks, and firewall/VPN technologies including FTD and ASA.
- Hands-on experience implementing Sponsor IT and cybersecurity best practices, collaboration/ticketing tools, and high-availability technologies.
- Recent experience, within the last 3 years, providing technical leadership to network engineering teams, with the ability to mentor and transfer technical knowledge to others.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to operate independently and within collaborative technical teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel on an infrequent, as-needed basis, primarily CONUS.
Desired:
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining Cisco ASA firewalls using Firepower Management.
- Recent hands-on experience with network and application load balancers.
- Experience building, deploying, maintaining, or integrating with Nutanix hypervisor platforms.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.
- Experience with SIEM, network monitoring, and security analytics technologies such as Splunk, PCAP, NetFlow, or SolarWinds.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies, assess their impact on enterprise systems, and incorporate appropriate technologies into technical plans.
Salary Range
USD $170,000.00 - USD $210,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
