You will lead the scientific and technical execution of collaborative research, with particular emphasis on MR pulse-sequence development, advanced acquisition and reconstruction, AI-enabled innovation, and clinical translation. You will help translate unmet clinical needs into new research concepts and prototypes, evaluate emerging technologies, generate scientific evidence, and provide insights that help shape future MR development priorities.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate emerging MR technologies, research software, investigational sequences, and advanced computational methods.
  • Design and execute studies that generate scientific and clinical evidence for new MR technologies and applications.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, scientific presentations, technical documents, research proposals, and grant initiatives.
  • Provide scientific and customer insights to help inform MR technology and R&D priorities.
  • Build strong scientific networks, facilitate multi-site collaborations, and help translate innovation from concept through validation, evidence generation, and clinical adoption.
  • Lead collaborative MR research with key academic and clinical partners.
  • Design, program, optimize, and evaluate advanced MR pulse sequences and research applications.
  • Develop and evaluate advanced MR acquisition, reconstruction, post-processing, and quantitative imaging methods.
  • Apply AI and machine learning to MR development, including acquisition, reconstruction, image analysis, protocol optimization, and workflow.
  • Translate clinical and technical unmet needs into research concepts, prototypes, and proof-of-concept solutions in collaboration with Engineering and R&D.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics, Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Radiological Sciences, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in MR, medical imaging, pulse-sequence development, image reconstruction, computational imaging, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of MR physics, pulse sequences, image acquisition, reconstruction, and MR system performance.
  • Hands-on programming experience relevant to MR development, such as C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated technical innovation and scientific research experience, including publications and/or conference presentations.
  • Strong analytical, experimental, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary, clinical, academic, and global teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work across hospital, clinical, research, and home-office environments and travel as required.

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands-on MR pulse-sequence programming and development experience.
  • Experience with GE HealthCare MR research environments, including EPIC and/or Orchestra.
  • Experience applying AI/ML to MRI development, particularly acquisition, reconstruction, quantitative imaging, image analysis, or protocol optimization.
  • Experience with advanced reconstruction, accelerated imaging, quantitative MRI, or other emerging MR technologies.
  • Experience developing and evaluating research prototypes and early-stage technologies.
  • Experience working with radiologists, medical physicists, scientists, and technologists in clinical or academic environments.
  • Strong academic/clinical collaboration, publication, and scientific presentation experience.
  • Ability to work effectively at the intersection of MR physics, clinical science, AI, engineering, and product development.
