We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.
We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high growth businesses that fuel the economy - and directly advise the owners and management teams that lead them.
We’ll broaden your horizons
Our IT team collaborates across the firm to develop, implement and operate the technology that supports our people and clients. The Innovation & Digital and Operations function helps BDO introduce and improve digital products and services, working across business, technology, data and change disciplines.
Corporate Tax Optimisation brings together the workflow, data, automation and digital products that support the Corporate Tax compliance journey. CT Workflow provides the orchestration layer for the process and integrates with digital products and services, alongside wider firm platforms and tax systems.
We’ll help you succeed
Leading organisations trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, and that understanding comes from working closely with them and building long-lasting relationships.
You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working pro-actively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.
This role is responsible for leading the product direction and roadmap for the Corporate Tax (CT) Optimisation programme. Acting as the key product partner to the Business Product Owner, you will translate business objectives into a clear product strategy, prioritised backlog and integrated roadmap across CT Workflow and related digital products. The role ensures that technology, processes, data and automation work together to deliver the desired business outcomes while balancing competing priorities, risks and dependencies.
Working closely with stakeholders across Corporate Tax, Technology and Product teams, you will gather insights, understand user needs and operational challenges, and turn them into actionable product improvements. You will be responsible for prioritising enhancements, new functionality, operational support and technical improvements based on business value, user impact and strategic alignment. You will use evidence and data to guide decision-making and help senior stakeholders make informed choices about scope, investment and priorities.
Although day-to-day delivery is managed by a Delivery Manager, you will provide overall product leadership throughout the lifecycle, from discovery and planning through to launch and ongoing optimisation. You will ensure products are adopted successfully, deliver measurable benefits and remain aligned to the broader vision. The role also oversees product performance, using analytics, feedback and operational data to drive continuous improvement and maximise value.
As a senior product professional, you will play a key role in stakeholder engagement, governance and product best practice. You will facilitate prioritisation discussions, communicate complex concepts clearly to senior audiences and ensure product decisions consider areas such as risk, compliance, security and operational resilience. In addition, you will mentor Product Managers, promote user-centred and outcome-focused ways of working and help strengthen product management capability across the wider CT portfolio.
You’ll be someone with:
- Significant product-management experience leading a complex product, product line, service journey or connected portfolio through multiple lifecycle stages, including live operation, enhancement and introduction of new functionality.
- A strong record of translating business-owned product vision, stakeholder requirements and intended outcomes into integrated roadmaps, prioritised backlogs and executable product plans, while working in close partnership with Delivery Managers and multidisciplinary teams to support effective delivery.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional work through influence, including with senior stakeholders and multiple delivery or specialist teams.
- Demonstrable experience of stakeholder discovery, requirements definition, product and backlog prioritisation, roadmap governance, launch, operational support, adoption and continuous optimisation, covering both enhancements to existing products and delivery of new functionality.
- Experience defining measures of success, baselines and benefits, and using data and insight to steer product decisions.
- The ability to understand complex operating processes and interconnected systems without needing to be the technical owner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the confidence to challenge, facilitate decisions and present credible recommendations to senior audiences.
- Strong commercial and risk awareness, with the judgement to balance value, cost, quality, technical sustainability and operational resilience.
- Experience of Agile and incremental product delivery, using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira to maintain a transparent backlog, support prioritisation and enable effective collaboration with delivery teams.
- A collaborative, inclusive and pragmatic leadership style, with the ability to share expertise, mentor others and contribute to the development of product-management capability.
