Description
Project Manager — Cloud, Data & Business Applications
Practice
Delivery Management, Avanade India
Location
Bengaluru / Delhi NCR, India (Hybrid, with client travel)
Experience
12–15 years in IT, with proven delivery ownership of projects in one or more of cloud migration and application modernisation, data transformation, or CRM/ERP transformation — running teams of eight to ten people, with hands-on delivery experience on Microsoft technologies
Role Summary
Avanade India is looking for a Project Manager to take end-to-end delivery ownership of client projects across cloud modernisation, data and business applications. This is a delivery leadership role for someone who has carried the plan, the budget, the team and the client relationship on real projects — not only reported on them.
You will run projects with teams distributed across different locations, own scope, schedule, cost, quality and risk, and be the client’s day-to-day point of accountability. We are not looking for experience in every domain: depth in one or two — cloud migration, application modernisation, data transformation, or a CRM or ERP programme — matters more than shallow coverage of all four. Experience delivering on Microsoft technologies is expected, as most of our work sits on the Microsoft stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery of client projects — initiation, planning, execution, go-live and closure — against agreed scope, schedule, cost and quality.
- Build and maintain the project plan: work breakdown, estimates, dependencies, critical path, milestones and release schedule.
- Lead a delivery team of consisting of architects, developers, testers and analysts, including distributed onshore and offshore members.
- Own the commercials of the project — budget, forecast, effort tracking, resource utilization, revenue recognition and margin — and flag variance early.
- Run governance: steering committees, weekly status, RAID logs, dashboards and reporting to client and internal stakeholders.
- Manage scope and change control — impact assessment, change requests, re-baselining and the commercial conversation that goes with them.
- Identify, track and mitigate risks and issues, and escalate with a recommendation rather than only a problem.
- Act as the client’s day-to-day delivery contact, building trust with business and IT stakeholders and managing expectations through the difficult parts of a project.
- Run delivery in the method the engagement needs — agile, waterfall or hybrid — including sprint ceremonies, backlog management and release planning.
- Coordinate the delivery lifecycle across teams: requirements, design, build, testing (SIT/UAT), data migration, cutover, hypercare and transition to support.
- Manage resourcing and onboarding, workload allocation and knowledge continuity across the team.
- Hold quality and compliance — delivery standards, documentation, security and client policy requirements — and prepare for internal and client audits.
- Manage third parties, client teams and Microsoft or partner resources where they form part of the delivery.
- Support presales and account growth — estimation, delivery approach, plans for proposals, and identifying extension opportunities on live projects.
- Coach team members and junior project managers, and contribute delivery templates and lessons learned to the practice.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12–15 years of overall IT experience, with at least 5–6 years managing project delivery end to end.
- Proven delivery of projects in one or more of: cloud migration, application modernization, data platform or data transformation, and CRM or ERP transformation.
- Experience delivering on Microsoft technologies — Azure, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, Fabric or the wider stack.
- Demonstrated experience running teams of upto 15-20 resources, including distributed onshore and offshore members.
- Strong command of project management disciplines: estimation, planning, scheduling, budgeting, RAID management, change control and reporting.
- Hands-on with project management and delivery tooling — Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Planner, Excel-based tracking and reporting dashboards.
- Experience running both agile and waterfall delivery, and knowing which one a given engagement actually needs.
- Commercial awareness — managing budget, effort, utilization and margin, and handling scope and change commercially.
- Strong client-facing skills — steering committee presence, stakeholder management, and holding difficult conversations well.
- Experience across the full delivery lifecycle including testing, data migration, cutover, go-live and hypercare.
- Clear written communication — status reports, plans, governance packs and escalation notes at client-ready quality.
