The successful candidate will combine strong insurance expertise with commercial judgement, disciplined execution and the ability to influence across a complex international organisation.

Strategic Planning and Forecasting

  • Lead the annual strategic plan, operating plan and forecasting processes for International Wholesale & Specialty, ensuring alignment with divisional and Group objectives.
  • Own the planning calendar, assumptions, governance and review process across business units, regions and functions.
  • Develop scenario analysis and financial modelling to support strategic choices, growth priorities, resource allocation and management of financial risk.
  • Improve forecast accuracy through clear ownership, robust challenge and systematic analysis of variances and emerging trends.

Performance Management and Executive Insight

  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual analysis of performance against plan, forecast and prior year.
  • Provide concise, decision-useful insight across premium, underwriting result, commission, expenses, profitability and other key insurance performance drivers.
  • Lead FP&A input into Quarterly Business Reviews and executive performance forums, translating complex analysis into clear messages, actions and accountabilities.
  • Identify performance risks and opportunities early and recommend practical management actions.

Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted strategic finance partner
  • Provide constructive challenge to business assumptions, strategies and investment proposals while supporting commercially sound decision-making.
  • Ensure business leaders understand the financial consequences of decisions and maintain ownership of agreed plans and forecasts.
  • Build effective relationships with the Global Head of Wholesale FP&A, Group FP&A and finance teams across the wider organisation.

Management Information, Data and Transformation

  • Lead the development of management information, dashboards and analytical capabilities that improve transparency and speed of decision-making.
  • Drive simplification, standardisation and automation of FP&A processes, reducing manual activity and strengthening controls.
  • Partner with Finance and Technology teams to enhance planning and reporting tools, data quality and systems integration.
  • Promote the effective use of analytics and AI-enabled tools to improve insight, productivity and forecasting capability.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or comparable relevant finance qualification.
  • Significant FP&A leadership experience within insurance, reinsurance or a closely related financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and executive performance reporting in a complex organisation.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and provide constructive, evidence-based challenge.
  • Experience leading, developing and retaining high-performing finance teams.
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability, with a disciplined approach to data quality and controls.
  • Experience improving FP&A processes, management information and planning or reporting systems.
  • Experience of the Lloyd’s, specialty or international insurance market is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Anaplan, TM1, Oracle, Power BI or comparable platforms is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic and commercial judgement, connecting financial outcomes to business strategy and underwriting performance.
  • Clear, concise communication with senior finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Strong leadership and people-development skills, with a collaborative and accountable style.
  • Intellectual curiosity and confidence to challenge assumptions while remaining pragmatic and solutions-focused.
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation and execution across multiple deadlines and stakeholder groups.
  • High standards of integrity, accuracy and control, balanced with pace and commercial responsiveness.
  • Change leadership and continuous-improvement mindset, including adoption of technology, automation and analytics.
  • Ability to operate effectively across cultures, geographies and matrix relationships.
