Maintenance Manager II
Location: Buffalo, NY
Compensation: $130,000–$155,000 Base + 15% Bonus

A well-established manufacturer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager II to lead its plant maintenance organization in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
This leadership position is responsible for equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance team development, contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce downtime and increase production capacity.
High-speed packaging experience and a bachelor's degree in Engineering are required. Candidates with food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Lead the plant Maintenance Department and ensure production equipment, utilities, and facilities operate safely and reliably.
- Build and sustain preventive and predictive maintenance programs that improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Direct electrical, mechanical, and general equipment troubleshooting and ensure production-critical problems are resolved quickly.
- Partner with Production to reduce downtime, eliminate bottlenecks, and increase throughput.
- Hire, train, coach, evaluate, and develop maintenance personnel while establishing clear performance expectations.
- Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and production operations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs, scrap, defects, energy consumption, and production losses.
- Maintain effective maintenance systems, procedures, documentation, and equipment records.
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, modification, and optimization of new and existing production equipment.
- Partner with Engineering on new equipment, product, and process launches.
- Manage contractors and outside service providers and ensure work is completed safely and according to specifications.
- Identify and address safety risks associated with equipment, processes, modifications, and installations.
- Maintain an understanding of plant utilities, capacity, utilization, and future infrastructure requirements.
- Conduct root cause investigations involving equipment failures, safety incidents, environmental concerns, and regulatory issues.
- Develop strategies to improve equipment life, asset utilization, energy conservation, accident prevention, and waste reduction.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental, GMP, PPE, food safety, SQF, and company requirements.
- Deploy maintenance resources effectively and follow escalation procedures during significant production downtime.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- High-speed packaging manufacturing experience required.
- 8–10+ years of manufacturing management experience, including experience leading maintenance teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing experience.
- Strong experience with equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and downtime reduction.
- Proven experience leading, developing, and managing maintenance personnel.
- Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and process optimization.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, environmental, GMP, food safety, and manufacturing compliance requirements.
- Lean and continuous improvement experience.
- Strong leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred.
- Must be comfortable maintaining a significant presence on the production floor and responding to operational requirements outside normal business hours when necessary.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
Compensation & Relocation
This direct-hire opportunity offers a $130,000–$155,000 base salary plus a 15% annual bonus. Candidates slightly above the stated salary range may still be considered. A strong relocation package is available for qualified candidates.
