THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE  

Openbank Mexico is looking for a Head of Banking to define and lead the banking strategy for Openbank Mexico, building a scalable and commercially sound proposition aligned with business growth, customer needs and regulatory requirements, with end-to-end accountability for business performance, P&L and customer value.

• Define the end-to-end banking strategy for Openbank Mexico, including product scope, customer segments, value proposition and growth roadmap. 
• Own the banking P&L, balancing customer growth, balances, pricing, funding economics, fees and profitability. 
• Lead end-to-end management of the banking business, actively managing customer growth, balances, activity, retention, returns and customer value. 
• Lead the banking operating model, ensuring clear governance across Business, Product, Risk, Operations, Finance, Data and Technology. 
• Shape the product and commercial strategy across current accounts, savings and deposits, payments, debit cards and other everyday banking capabilities. 
• Partner with Product, Data and Technology teams to design digital journeys, pricing, engagement mechanics and customer lifecycle strategies. 
• Own the strategic view of banking performance, including acquisition, activation, balances, transactional activity, retention, cost of funds, fee income and customer value. 
• Work with senior stakeholders on business cases, roadmap prioritization, launch planning, commercial decisions and balance-sheet discussions. 
• Identify market opportunities, competitive dynamics and customer needs across digital banking, deposits, payments and everyday financial services. 
• Build strong relationships with internal teams across Openbank and Santander Group, ensuring consistency with global standards while adapting the proposition to the Mexican market. 
• Support senior management materials, committee discussions and strategic updates on banking performance and development.

Professional Experience 

• Significant senior experience in retail banking, digital banking, deposits, payments, fintech or financial services. 
• Proven track record defining or scaling banking strategies, deposit propositions, payments or digital banking products in a regulated environment. 
• Demonstrated experience owning or managing P&L and business performance within banking, payments, deposits or digital financial services. 
• Previous exposure to fintech, digital banking, deposits, payments or high-growth financial services businesses will be highly valued. 

Education 

• Relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience (preferred). 

Language 

• Fluency in Spanish and English (required). 

Hard Skills 

• Strong understanding of retail banking economics, deposits and funding, pricing, payments, customer engagement and product management. 
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to balance growth, customer value, funding economics and profitability. 
• Experience working with data, analytics and technology teams to build digital banking capabilities, segmentation or personalized propositions. 
• Ability to move from business vision to product, commercial and operational implementation. 
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders across Product, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Data and Technology. 

Soft Skills
