Function: 

Works closely with the Commercial Loan Closing and Quality Control Supervisor, in the daily functions of the Commercial Loan Documentation Department.  Documents and maintains records for highly complex commercial loans to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in the loan processing system, according to Corporate Banking Policy, federal and state regulations and the approval.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality control of Commercial Lending loan applications/modifications process for Compliance related items and supporting loan documents by conducting initial reviews prior to documenting.
    • Monitoring for regulation B, OFAC, Beneficial Ownership and the completion of CRA
    • Certifying all necessary on organizational documents (i.e. by-laws, Operating agreements, partnership agreements and trust agreements, etc.) are obtained in preparation of loan documents.
    • Completes searches and inquiries regarding all new borrowing entities for verification of legal existence and current good standing status.
  • Reviews draft documents for attorney prepared loans to ensure that the external documentation is in compliance with the credit approval as well as bank approved standardized language for documenting attorneys. In the event any deficiencies are identified this will be communicated to the appropriate line of business to be corrected prior to closing. 
  • Assists with documentation of regulatory and procedural differences and communicates this information to the manager responsible for the noted area.
    • Documents any regulatory errors or procedural documentation errors to create reports that are distributed to the manager responsible.
    • Maintains the compliance content of all desk top procedures and instructional manuals for the Department
    • Participate in review of policies and procedures to provide the department with information for continuous quality improvement.
    • Maintains ongoing process to ensure remedial efforts have produced satisfactory results to immediately detect recurrences of defects.
  • Assists in determining the cause of errors, tracks by employees, and communicates to the Commercial Loan Closing and Quality Control Supervisor
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of all commercial loan products.
  • Maintains proficiency in loan origination and documentation software, Microsoft Word, Excel, Optima, nCino, IBS inquires, email, intranet and internet applications.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all applicable laws and S&T Bank Lending Policy to ensure compliance.
  • Reviews initial documentation required (i.e. flood determinations, appraisals, property reports, title commitments, UCC-1 searches, domestic lien searches, OFAC, etc.) as stipulated by the underwriter in conjunction with federal and state regulations and bank policy.
  • Submits requests for supportive documents regarding collateral lien position and vested ownership.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of commercial documentation, with strong emphasis on organizational documents (i.e. by-laws, operating agreement, partnership agreements and trust agreements, etc.) to ensure documents are prepared accordingly.
  • Daily interactions including but not limited to bank personnel, insurance agents, attorneys, abstractors, title companies, brokerage firms, other financial institutions, federal, state and local regulators, as well as customers for information needed to have the loan documented properly.
  • Contributes to the writing of commercial loan department manuals.
  • Trains and is a Mentor to new team members to aid in the development of their skills.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with bank employees.  Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization.
  • Performs all additional duties as required.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent basic academic education, plus specialized training in loan documentation or a two-year degree.


Experience:

Requires five to ten years of specialized experience.


Physical Demands:

Operates a keypad device, electronic equipment, and office equipment: 90% of the day.  Requires the use of manual dexterity skills for typing and filing up to 60% of the business day.  Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”-20” for computer work.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.



Offered rates and salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on experience, education, and evidenced position specific skill requirements.

Salary Range:

$16.23 - $33.32
