About the Role

We are looking for a senior Power Systems & Renewable Energy Specialist with deep expertise in renewable grid integration, dynamic modeling, Power Plant Controllers (PPCs), inverter-based resources (IBRs), grid-code compliance, and real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of power-system engineering, renewable-energy integration, control-system development, simulation, and technical project leadership experience. This role will work across utility-scale Solar PV, Wind, BESS, and hybrid renewable-energy projects, partnering with utilities, transmission operators, OEMs, inverter manufacturers, EPCs, and project developers

Key Responsibilities

• Lead power-system engineering, renewable-energy integration, and grid-compliance activities for utility-scale Solar PV, Wind, BESS, and hybrid renewable-energy projects.
• Provide technical leadership for Power Plant Controller (PPC), inverter control, and plant-level active/reactive power control solutions.
• Lead grid-integration and interconnection studies, including steady-state, dynamic, transient, contingency, and system-stability analysis.
• Develop, validate, and maintain power-system models using PSS/E, PSCAD/EMTDC, and other industry-standard simulation tools.
• Develop and validate dynamic and user-defined models for renewable plants, inverters, and PPCs.
• Design and validate PPC and inverter control strategies for normal operating conditions and grid disturbances, including voltage/frequency control and fault ride-through (FRT) requirements.
• Lead HIL testing and real-time simulation using platforms such as RTDS and OPAL-RT for inverter and PPC validation.
• Assess weak-grid and low-SCR conditions, voltage stability, dynamic performance, and controller interactions.
• Lead grid-code compliance assessments and validate performance through simulation and real-time testing.
• Coordinate technical activities across OEMs, inverter manufacturers, PPC suppliers, utilities, EPC contractors, and project owners.
• Lead technical discussions with utilities and transmission-system operators on grid interconnection, stability, protection, controls, and compliance requirements.
• Define technical requirements, review engineering deliverables, and ensure technical quality throughout project execution.
• Support projects from proposal and study definition through engineering, validation, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to power-system engineers and project teams.
• Contribute to research and development, new modeling methodologies, and advanced renewable-grid integration solutions.

Essential Qualifications & Technical Skills

• Strong experience in power-system engineering and renewable-energy grid integration.
• Advanced proficiency in PSS/E.
• Strong experience with PSCAD/EMTDC and EMT/dynamic simulation.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control-system development and analysis.
• Experience developing and validating dynamic and user-defined models.
• Strong understanding of inverter-based resources, PPCs, grid-forming/grid-following controls, and renewable plant controls.
• Experience with grid-code requirements, interconnection studies, and system stability analysis.
• Programming experience in Fortran and/or C for model development and customization.
• Experience working with utilities, transmission operators, OEMs, or renewable-energy developers.

Preferred / Additional Skills

• Experience with RTDS / RSCAD and/or OPAL-RT.
• Experience with PowerWorld.
• Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
• Experience with weak-grid, low-SCR, voltage stability, and controller-interaction studies.
• Experience with BESS and hybrid renewable-energy systems.
• Experience leading technical projects or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong customer-facing and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience preparing technical proposals, scopes of work, and engineering studies.
• Experience in research, development, and implementation of advanced power-system technologies.
