The Fresno County Department of General Services invites applications for the position of Security Officer. Incumbents are responsible for patrolling buildings and grounds to ensure security and fire protection, securing facilities to prevent unauthorized entry, enforcing security rules and regulations, and reporting illegal security breaches and behavior to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Ideal candidates should possess keen observation skills, the ability to adapt to a variety of situations requiring sound judgement and have exceptional interpersonal skills.

Education: Possession of a United States' high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
License: Possession of a valid Class “C” driver’s license, or equivalent.
Certification: Ability to obtain a Security Guard card issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), within one (1) year from the date of hire or be rejected during the probationary period. Valid Security Guard Card must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Note: Incumbents must obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment. Incumbents may be required to obtain and maintain California Department of Social Services Guardian clearance as a condition of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back, and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved.
