033463 Maintenance Leader (Open)Job Description:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading maintenance activities for the San Juan plant and ensuring equipment, machines, and critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role drives preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, supports Lean/OPEX initiatives, and helps build a high-performing maintenance team aligned with TPM and TPS principles. The position works closely with plant leadership, operations, and external suppliers to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Establish and support autonomous maintenance programs.
- Lead maintenance activities that support Lean/OPEX goals and improve plant performance.
- Conduct technical analysis to ensure maintenance plans are appropriate for optimal machine performance.
- Manage supplier and service provider contracts with a focus on cost and quality optimization.
- Track execution of preventive maintenance plans and ensure follow-through by the maintenance team.
- Resolve technical issues directly or through external vendors as needed.
- Implement technical improvements related to safety, quality, operations, and production efficiency.
- Review maintenance KPIs monthly and lead related action plans.
- Lead and develop the maintenance team through feedback, evaluations, and performance management.
- Manage critical and non-critical spare parts to ensure equipment continuity and minimize downtime.
- Perform or supervise lockout/tagout activities for equipment interventions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and management system records in line with procedures.
- Reduce mold and model changeover time on blow molding and injection equipment using SMED principles.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment by following all safety and hygiene procedures.
- Support and follow up on corrective actions related to the maintenance area.
- Maintain critical environmental equipment.
- Help prevent leaks, failures, and unplanned breakdowns.
- Record significant maintenance interventions and technical issues.
Education and Experience
- Advanced or completed university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in similar roles within continuous production environments, preferably in the plastics industry.
- Experience working with quality management systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards preferred.
- Intermediate technical English, both written and spoken, is preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of automated systems.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
- Understanding of maintenance systems and processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with maintenance software such as eMaint is preferred.
- AutoCAD knowledge is preferred.
- Power Studio knowledge is preferred.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to drive process discipline, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
- Ability to build team capability and support high-performance team development.
