Position: Lead QA Engineer

Location: Hybrid (1 day/week in the office – Lisbon, Portugal)

Job Summary

We're looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our team and help deliver high-quality software for international projects. You'll work closely with product managers, developers, automation engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about quality, enjoys identifying risks before they become issues, and thrives in mentoring others while continuously improving QA processes and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications;
• Identify risks, gaps, inconsistencies, and potential quality issues early in the development lifecycle;
• Design, create, execute, and maintain comprehensive test scenarios and test cases;
• Ensure product requirements are fully understood, validated, and tested before delivery;
• Support and mentor junior QA Engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and QA best practices;
• Collaborate with automation engineers by identifying automation opportunities, reviewing test coverage, and ensuring alignment with business priorities;
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and methodologies;
• Advocate for a quality-first mindset across product and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Based in Portugal and legally authorized to work in Portugal;
• Proven experience as a Senior QA Engineer, preferably with experience leading or mentoring QA teams;
• Strong hands-on experience with functional and manual testing;
• Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases, and test scenarios;
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments;
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC);
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Strong analytical thinking and AI proficiency, with the ability to leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and deliver better outcomes.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar tools;
• Basic SQL and database validation skills;
• Experience collaborating with test automation teams;
• Familiarity with CI/CD environments and quality engineering best practices;
• Experience with API testing.
