Structural Engineering Intern | Houston, TX

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Houston, Texas. Over 10-12 weeks, you will assist with the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for buildings and other structures while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants on active projects.
In this role, you will support project coordination, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration while helping teams work within project budgets and meet client expectations. You will contribute to work across commercial assignments and a broader portfolio that includes civic and public safety, education, healthcare, and municipal facility projects, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do
- Assist with structural system design in accordance with code and IMEG standards
- Research project-related information and resources
- Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and document records for permanent files
- Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier teams
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
- Conduct periodic job site observations and provide other services required by the contract services agreement
What You'll Bring
Education
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
Experience
- None listed
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

- Active portfolio also includes fire stations, justice / detention facilities, university projects, transportation work, and selected commercial / hospitality assignments.
- Recent work includes City of McKinney, TX / McKinney, TX / McKinney Public Safety Facility Renovation - Phase A, Government (City/County/State), and University of Houston / Houston, TX / Cullen Performance Hall Renovation, Education.
