PermanentOverall Purpose of Role:
To provide a key role to develop the risk functions including but not limited to assisting in the daily reporting, monitoring and control of member cleared positions.
Role is initially task and reporting orientated as well as supporting and providing analytical review to all applicable risk practices. Junior MarketRisk Analyst will develop skills and technical capabilities within the wider Risk department with a view for future specialism and subject matter expertise. The Market Risk Analyst will face off to senior management and external stakeholders and build their network and promote LME Clear Risk and the wider LME Group and HKEx brand.
The incumbent will have the access to risk team members with expertise in specialist disciplines including metals and financial derivatives, and quantitative risk to learn and develop from.
The member of the team will be expected to participate in Default Management planning and fire drills across cleared metals and collateral.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily reporting and monitoring of the LME metals markets and measuring the risk exposure of member and underlying clients. To identify and implement improvements to daily processes.
- Proactively identify, report and ensure transparency of risks, immediate escalation of material issues to line/ senior management.
- Support senior team members and take a lead in development and automation of risk reporting and analysis.
- Provide qualitative and quantitative input into the documentation of risk methodologies.
- Monitor member cleared exposures and requirements versus limits and policy – escalate where appropriate.
- Monitor metals market risks and potential impact to margin parameters and members’ exposures.
- Preparation of daily, monthly and all committee reports – implement improvements and automation where possible.
- Assist with documentation of risk reporting procedures and ensure in line with models and methodology documentation.
- Identify reporting development needs and enhance within model implementation process.
- Help to ensure default management capabilities are sufficient to manage a default in line with LME Clear regulations. Be involved in regular default management exercises.
- Assist in the business testing of IT systems, including documentation of test cases, test results and escalate defects to senior management.
- Develop the role and own capabilities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Academic and Professional Qualifications Required:
- Educated to degree level in numerate subject (preferred)
- Financial/ market based qualification or willingness to complete e.g. CFA/ FRM/ ACT (preferred)
Required Knowledge and Level of Experience:
- Demonstrable Financial/ Risk experience (preferred)
- Good financial mathematics background
- Keen to develop and apply understanding of risk principles – Initial Margin, VaR, stress testing, back testing,
- Intermediate excel/word skills – developing basic VBA/SQL skills/ Python and PowerBI
- Basic fixed commodity / metals markets knowledge (desirable).
- Mechanics and processes behind clearing house risk management.
- Knowledge of Commodity Market Risk Management (desirable).
