Now Brewing – Manager Strategy, Engineering Deployment and Scale-up! #tobeapartner
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.
As a Manager of Strategy, you will play a critical role in defining future-state coffeehouse operating models and equipment & packaging strategies that support long-term business growth. This role is well suited for someone with consumer-packaged goods (CPG) or physical-product general management experience who understands how product decisions, P&L performance, and launch strategies connect to business performance.
You will help shape enterprise strategies ranging from equipment portfolio planning to operational innovation and productivity initiatives, with an emphasis on managing engineered, physical products from early development through scaled launch.
As a Manager of Strategy, Engineering Deployment and Scale-up, you will…
Develop equipment & packaging product strategies
- Lead strategic initiatives focused on future coffeehouse experiences including the operating model and innovation in equipment, packaging and smallwares.
- Analyze customer, partner, operational, and financial insights to understand business challenges and enable strategic trade-offs.
- Develop recommendations that connect product portfolio choices, P&L implications, launch sequencing, productivity, and customer experience objectives.
Lead cross-functional teams
- Drive alignment across diverse cross-functional teams to define future-state physical product solutions, implementation roadmaps, and launch strategies.
- Facilitate leadership discussions, strategic workshops, and governance forums to build alignment and accelerate decision making.
- Translate complex problems into actionable plans and business recommendations.
Build business cases and strategic recommendations
- Develop quantitative analyses, business cases, scenario models, and P&L-informed recommendations to evaluate alternatives and investment decisions for future product-launches.
- Assess opportunities across coffeehouse design, barista-facing equipment, packaging, barista tools, workflow, labor, and process innovation.
- Present recommendations and key decisions to senior leadership teams.
Provide partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to build an effective team:
- Challenge, inspire and provide coaching to team members to achieve business results.
- Conduct performance reviews, oversee training and make staffing decisions.
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Progressive experience in strategy, consulting, operations, consumer packaged goods, physical product strategy, or business transformation.
- Experience leading cross-functional programs involving multiple business functions and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, P&L management, and business case development skills.
- Ability to translate complex operational challenges into strategic recommendations.
- Experience influencing leaders and driving alignment without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and strategic storytelling.
- Demonstrated experience developing long-term strategies, operating models, or innovation roadmaps.
- Experience managing physical products or engineered devices from initial development through launch strategy, scale-up, and post-launch business performance.
- Experience managing others, 3+ years
