What this role is all about:
We are looking for an Accountant in La Crosse, WI.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. This role includes tasks such as providing accounting support for AP, AR, the month-end closing processes including preparation and posting of journal entries along with analysis and reconciliation of accounts for assigned business units and assisting with audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the daily operations of the finance department including the processing of revenue, expenditures, general ledger and account maintenance.
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and related reconciliations (as applicable).
- Complete fixed asset accounting and capital expenditure reporting.
- Reconcile bank accounts and other cash-related accounts; support cash reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries. Maintain Supporting Documentation for journal entries.
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal management reporting.
- Analyze account reconciliations.
- Assist with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations.
- Assist with the year-end independent financial audit and internal operational audits.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP; recommend process improvements.
- Participate in system implementations or process automation efforts; help document procedures.
- Back up other Accounting positions and functions.
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Perform other related duties and special projects, as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Protocol.
- Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
- Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
- Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related area required.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience Required:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in accounting or related field required.
- ERP system experience preferred
