THE OPPORTUNITY
Interested in a corporate accounting role that goes beyond month-end close?
Join BCI's Corporate Accounting team and support the financial reporting, accounting, and compliance activities that underpin the operations of a large institutional investor.
As an Analyst or Senior Analyst, Corporate Accounting, you will contribute to the accounting and reporting of BCI's corporate activities across multiple legal entities. Depending on your experience and designation status, you will support or lead activities related to month-end and quarter-end close, consolidated reporting, inter-company accounting, treasury activities, tax matters, and process improvements.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
This role sits within the Finance department, part of BCI Operations. Finance is responsible for investment and corporate accounting, valuations, financial reporting, budgeting, tax, procurement, finance operations, and investment performance and analytics. The team works closely with departments across BCI, as well as auditors and external advisors, to support the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.
You will be part of the Corporate Accounting team, which is responsible for the accounting and reporting of BCI's corporate financial activities. The team works closely with FP&A, Tax, payroll, Finance Operations, and business partners across the organization to support financial reporting, maintain the integrity of financial records, meet regulatory and reporting requirements, and improve accounting processes and controls.
WHAT YOU BRING
Analyst: actively working toward a professional accounting designation (CPA), with 1-3 years of relevant experience
Senior Analyst: completed professional accounting designation (CPA), with 3-5 years of relevant experience
Experience with month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and technical accounting skills, with excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of IFRS, consolidations, and inter-company accounting, including multi-currency transactions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical matters clearly and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Initiative, sound judgement, and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
Preferred:
Experience with complex international organizations, ideally financial institutions
Experience using Workday Financials
Experience assisting with or preparing financial statements and audit working papers
Experience with cash flow forecasting, treasury functions, indirect taxes, or related tax filings
Experience using AI tools to enhance processes and drive efficiency
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Analyst or Senior Analyst supports BCI's corporate accounting function, including the timely and accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of corporate financial results in accordance with IFRS. The level will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, and CPA status.
At the Analyst level, the role focuses on supporting core accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and close activities. At the Senior Analyst level, the role includes responsibility for more complex accounting matters, reviewing work, providing guidance to stakeholders, and coordinating or supporting key accounting processes.
This role supports accounting and reporting activities across multiple legal entities in a complex environment with regulatory reporting requirements, inter-company transactions, and challenging competing deadlines. Success requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound professional judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Support financial accounting, management reporting, and financial reporting activities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Complete month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting analysis
Prepare or support the preparation of consolidated financial statements and related audit working papers
Record accounting entries for BCI's foreign subsidiaries, including expenses, payroll, and inter-company transactions, as required
Work closely with FP&A, payroll, Tax, Finance Operations, business partners, auditors, and external advisors to support accurate and timely financial reporting
Support accounts payable, expense management, accounts receivable, and treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting and monitoring
Prepare income tax documentation and support regulatory, statutory, and other compliance-related reporting requirements
Prepare reports and analysis to support management, budget owners, project owners, and other stakeholders in understanding financial results
Maintain and document Corporate Accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to support accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements
Identify and support opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting, and operational efficiency through the effective use of systems and tools
Senior Analyst: review work, provide coaching and feedback, and mentor Corporate Accounting Technicians, as required
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This role is based in our downtown Victoria, BC office. Relocation support is available if needed. BCI is an in-person, collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely up to one day per week.
SALARY RANGE
The annualized base salary range for the Analyst role is CAD $80,000 to $95,000. For the Senior Analyst role, the range is CAD $93,000 to $110,000.

The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
