Description
Meet the Team
The mechanical engineering team at Cisco is at the heart of our hardware innovation. We are a cross-functional group of innovators responsible for the physical architecture of our networking and telecom solutions. From high-density rack-mount chassis to sophisticated electro-mechanical systems, we ensure that every product we ship is durable, thermally efficient, and built for high-volume manufacturing. You will be joining a team that values technical excellence, collaboration, and a relentless focus on delivering high-quality products to our global customers.
Your Impact
In this role, you will bridge the gap between initial architectural concepts and final product delivery. Your work will influence the entire product lifecycle:
Design & Architecture: Utilize CREO to design complex electro-mechanical packaging for telecom systems. You will lead design feasibility, prototyping, and system-level stack-up tolerance studies.
Project Leadership: Lead medium-scale mechanical engineering projects, driving features from concept to production while managing risks and resource requirements.
Thermal & Structural Analysis: Apply your expertise in thermal concepts and structural simulations (FEA/Stress testing) to ensure system reliability. You will work closely with DVT teams to identify and debug design issues.
Manufacturing & Quality: Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) standards. You will assist the manufacturing team with fixture design, assembly process improvements, and use FMEA techniques to proactively resolve fabrication issues.
Business & Strategy: Set standards for BoMs, select optimal materials, and perform cost model analysis to ensure products meet COGS targets while adhering to Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of related experience, OR
Master’s degree with 7+ years of related experience, OR
Advanced proficiency in CREO for complex chassis and enclosure design.
Strong background in thermal management for high-performance telecom equipment.
Proven experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
Expertise in simulation tools (FEA/CFD) for structural and thermal integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional technical teams.
Experience in optimizing mechanical designs for cost-effectiveness and supply chain efficiency.
