As Regulatory Compliance Manager, you’ll support the business by leading and overseeing regulatory compliance activities across multiple markets - ensuring our control frameworks, reporting obligations and governance standards are met consistently and effectively.
You’ll report into and support the Head of Compliance in engaging with internal teams and regulators, advising on regulatory expectations, and building a robust and fit-for-purpose compliance function that supports Supergroup Africa operations and its strategic growth. Your drive and ideas will help us move faster, improve smarter, and stay ahead of the game.
What you’ll do
You’ll take ownership of work that gives us our competitive edge, including:
Leadership Support
Provide support to the Head of Compliance, contributing to strategic compliance initiatives and planning.
Regulatory Advisory & Stakeholder Support
Assess and advise cross-functional stakeholders on regulatory matters, expectations and obligations across all operating markets.
Act as the subject matter expert on regulatory requirements, providing clear, practical advice to the wider business.
Support cross functional teams by highlighting regulatory risks, constraints and dependencies that may impact business decision making or operations.
Compliance Frameworks & Controls
Devise, implement and maintain relevant and appropriate frameworks to proactively monitor compliance controls across multiple jurisdictions.
Analyse the effectiveness of compliance controls, using findings and risk assessments to recommend improvements.
Oversee the continuous development and enhancement of compliance policies, procedures and control documentation.
Regulatory Reporting
Oversee all aspects of regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely submission to relevant authorities and coordinate responses to queries, requests and reviews.
Ensure readiness for regulator inspections and audits through cross-functional coordination, evidence room management and document validation.
Regulatory Risk Management
Maintain the regulatory universes for the relevant operating markets, tracking and monitoring regulatory developments and assessing the risk impact of regulatory changes
Design, develop and maintain an accurate regulatory risk register aligned with the business’s risk appetite.
Monitor emerging regulatory risks and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are in place.
Governance, Audit & Committee Participation
Uphold and contribute to established corporate governance structures through participation in governance committees and working groups.
Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits related to regulatory compliance.
Ensure audit findings are addressed promptly and effectively.

What you’ll bring
You’re someone who brings:
Minimum qualifications LLB, supported by a relevant compliance, auditing and / or risk related qualification or certification
Admission as an attorney preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an in-house compliance or regulatory counsel role within the online gaming industry (preferably), alternatively at a consulting house, mid-to-large tier law firm or consulting house, or a mid-to-large tier corporate
Strong understanding of corporate, industry-specific and financial crime regulations and compliance requirements in various African jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards
Strong analytical, communication (verbal & written) & stakeholder management skills
Ability to convey regulatory requirements clearly and effectively to support business and operational decision-making
Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals
Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs
Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations
Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve
It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:
In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends
Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations
Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards
Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies
